"The Slice, Episode 18 [Urban Feature]"

An eclectic fusion of R&B singer-songwriter Jo-B Sebastian and electronic DJ/producer Phuse (Jarel Hill)the electro-R&B duo known as Tropic have just released their newest project – an alluring visual for their song "Bittersweet (Redux)". Built on dreamy synths, lush melodies, and heartwarming vocals provided by frontman Jo-B Sebastian, "Bittersweet (Redux)" delivers a mix of the old and the new. Shot in upstate New York, the video was directed by filmmaker Evan Carter who brings the song's surreal vibe to life with autumn aesthetics. - Earmilk

"Breathe Again"

Brooklyn-based producer and newcomer to the scene (and our radar) Phuse has a pretty cool new track for us this week called ‘Breathe Again’, which sees him working with another upcoming artist called Jo-B Sebastian for his slick vocal sounds, and they do work really well against Phuse’s impressive future-bass, electro-RnB, synth-pop and jazzy blends.

‘Breathe Again’ is also said to be the first taste of an ep these boys are working on together, and if there’s going to be more of this on there, I’m in. - Acid Stag

"River Beats Premiere: Tropic Combine Electronic and R&B in Cover Of Earth, Wind, & Fire’s ‘September’"

IT’S TIME TO ADD THIS ELECTO-R&B DUO TO YOUR LIST AS TROPIC DOES IT AGAIN WITH THEIR LATEST RELEASE. The duo took on the classic hit by Earth, Wind, & Fire and gave it new life with an electro-pop rework.

The duo, comprised of Jo-B Sebastian and Jarel Hill (Phuse), combine their unique talents and together, their sound is extremely distinct. Jo-B takes lead of the R&B side of the two, and Jarel is the electronic mastermind. Together, they fuse two very distinct sounds into one. - River Beats

"New Music Alert: Tropic’s “Over You” Video"

We are so excited to premiere the new Tropic video for "Over You" the subtle electronics and dreamy vibes are exactly what we needed today. We talked to them about their backstory and the inspo behind the art. - The New Nine

"Phuse & Jo-B Sebastian Take Us To The End Of Toxic Romance In Their Sade-Inspired Single “Bittersweet"

Brooklyn-based producer/DJ Phuse and R&B singer/songwriter J-B Sebastian have unveiled their Sade Adu-inspired single “Bittersweet” – a buoyant, reflective piece that unpeels the toxic layers of an ending romance. Despite the sadness, “Bittersweet” is a refreshing melody where the shimmering synths and swelling ambience helps to lighten the hefty topic. It is the perfect heartache song that lets you realistically accept the shitstorm of your broken relationship, but also gives you the pinch of optimism you need. - Aupium

Bio

New York based duo, Tropic, is what happens when electronic producer & DJ, Phuse,
and R&B singer/songwriter Jo-B Sebastian join forces. Born from a mutual respect
for each other’s inspirations and musical work, Tropic blends R&B textures, electronic
landscapes, pop hooks, and funk rhythms, combining Phuse’s slick, luscious production
and beats, with Jo-B’s heartfelt lyrics, and melodies. Equal parts nostalgic throwback
and futuristic forward thinking, it all started when Phuse remixed Jo-B’s debut single,
Get to Know You, igniting a working relationship that took their music to a whole new
level. Their music collaboration and friendship grew exponentially until they had no new
songs without each other and realised Phuse X Jo-B Sebastian was a poor band name.
