Biography

Trouveres' diverse catalogue features tuneful melodies and heartfelt passion. Their influences range from the classic songwriters of the sixties and modern jazz to post-rock, emo, power-pop and indie rock.

"There's no experience that can't be drawn on for creative inspiration".

Front man Jason Bernstein, has performed in a number of bands. In 2003 he decided (for the time being) that playing solo was the best way to be true to his musical intentions. He built up a repertoire by busking across Canada and South Africa. The experience helped him form his own unique approach to songwriting. Jason eventually added Ariel Posen on bass to the music mix. Keeping the sets acoustic at this point, they adopted the name Trouvères, and would often feature a third soloist (who was chosen very spontaneously at the gig). When they decided to go into Groove Jungle studio to record an EP, for which they employed the talents of drummer Darrin Cohen, the volume was turned up; just a tad.

Lyrics

Beautiful Mind

Written By: Jason Bernstein

Have you looked at Irene lately?
Have you seen her soulful grin?
How she looks with poly eyeballs, making love to sights of sin.

Have you danced with damsel daisey?
She's your dorothy tonight.
She's a rip-tide summer heartwrench!
She's a figment of your mind.

So look around at those beautiful sights.
Take a look with your beautiiful eyes.
Look around here with your beautiful mind.
Take a look at all the shapes the waves will paint inside your head, like women, selling in the market stalls.

The Neighbouring Cats

Written By: Trouveres/Jason Bernstein

Leave me alone is what I always say,
when I'm tired of you.
Leave me for dead, or regret that we've met;
and the weather turns blue.

Kiss me for free when It's all I could need.
Call me a man or at least while you can.
I'm available dear; Usually here.

I can't wait around for you forever.
No time should be spent, just as us together.

Throw me a bone to remind me your home, just for us to relate.
Get all the fatt from the neighbouring cats, who make meals off our plates.

Tell me a fable, a tale if you're able,
of princess and theive.
Smile if you can, because the protagonist has got more up his sleeve.

I can't wait around for you forever.
No time should be spent just as us together.

Again

Written By: Trouveres/Jason Bernstein

Even when I hide, I feel scared.
Even while you sleep I'm aware.
Even While I'm up, I feel down in the dumps.

I should never go there again.
Even when I'm lost for a friend.
If I go back on my word you know that I'm just human,
Even when I try to be something more.

When I hear a song I enjoy.
By a singer who sounds like he means it.
I listen to it over and over and over again; 'till I'm sure you weren't meant to believe it.

I waited for the rain.
To come and wash me out.

I should never...........
