Bio
The San Francisco bay area trio, True Margrit serves up a signature feast of sharp and sweet piano-art-rock vignettes. The band consists of singer/ songwriter/ pianist Margrit Eichler, bassist Gary Hobish, and drummer Andrew Bacon. This band is a fixture of the bay area scene, with 5 albums out, and with work on a 6th release currently underway. True Margrit tours regularly on the west coast (and beyond--including adventures in Texas & the East coast); at clubs, radio & TV stations, cafes, festivals, sailboats, etc. Their songs (and scores by Eichler) have been featured in a growing roster of films, including the award-winning Frameline Fest breakout, The Stranger in Us.
Pam Delgado and Jeri Jones--members of the San Francisco buzz band, Blame Sally--have often shown up at True Margrit sessions to add guest backing vocals and guitar flourishes. On True Margrits 2010 release, The Jugglers Progress, Gloria Justen, of Phillip Glass Ensemble, contributed superhero violins to the arrangements.
In his review of The Jugglers Progress, Alan Haber of buhdge.com says: Eichler's highly literate songs roll like little 3D movies--music made for IMAX theaters, widescreen imaginations...and air pianists everywhere a writer of pop songs with a lofty, ambitious goal? Elucidation? Entertainment? Both, I'm sure
