Maurice: True 2 Life, who deserve the focus of this review, made music that sounded like your friends having a fun old-school party on stage, with all of the friendly back-patting and excited performing that you would expect from your best friends if they had made it in the hip-hop world and wanted to tell you about how fun it has been. Unlike T-Pain, these guys didn’t need anybody other than each other to put on a fantastic set, and I think most of us felt the love.
Maggie: The show opened not with DJ UNK (to many peoples’ surprise) but with True 2 Life. True 2 Life is a band composed of upbeat Cornell alumni. Their performance was nice because they talked us up about Cornell in Risley Hall.
Maurice: True 2 Life is exactly what old-school hip hop is all about. They had the stellar early ’90’s beats. They had songs about how great they are (“You think I’m hot now? You ain’t even seen me. Just wait ’til my face is poppin’ on TV”).

True 2 Life is 3 brothers bonded by music and friendship pursing entertaining the masses. Described as "futuristic throwbacks," the group's sound is both reminiscent of hip hop's classic sound while still being cutting edge and fresh.
True 2 Life Music has a synergy that has guided them throughout the years. Their common bonds fused with their unique experiences drives them towards a very versatile sound. Concise(from Middletown, CT), K.Words(Mount Vernon, NY) and Slangston Hughes(Hempstead, NY) were all involved in music in some way during their high school years. it wasn't until they met in college did they start to seriously see a future as musicians. Over the years they've sacrificed other opportunities and lost extended group members who did not have the focus or integrity to follow the dream.
Since the group was solidified as a trio (circa November 2007), they have performed along side Grammy award winning artists Like T-Pain, Lupe Fiasco, and The Dream. In addition True 2 Life has rocked stages alongside heavyweights such as Fabolous, Juelz Santana, and Mike Jones and newcomers such as Wale and Wiz Khalifa. In many cases upstaging the headliner according to published reports and concert reviews. Currently, the group has been collaborating with a variety of different sounds, working on producing and writing for several other artists in the Hip Hop/R&B, Rock, Reggae and Pop genres. This Fall the group plans to continue to wow crowds and release an EP and an independent album.
True 2 Life will continue to be true representatives of Hip-Hop culture aspiring to make great music that expresses who they are in various aspects of their lives. They epitomize everything that you love about Hip-Hop: the music, the style, the rebellious attitude, the love and lifestyle
