"From Leesburg to Hollywood : TAYLOR DAVIS TO PERFORM AUG 2 ON AMERICAS GOT TALENT"

From a bazillion to 48.

Leesburg vocalist and guitarist Taylor Davis’ close friend, Michelle Scharnikow, says that’s now many (a bazillion) people entered “America’s Got Talent”, and that’s how many (48) remain in the television show.

Davis is participating in the current season of the popular NBC variety talent show; he will be perform in Hollywood, Calif., on live television on Tuesday Aug. 2, and he and his friends are asking people to tune in and to vote for him by text and phone.

“One of 48. That’s not too bad, is it? Scharnikow said. “Taylor has already accomplished so much, and we are all so proud of him.”

During four consecutive weeks this summer, the 48 remaining contestants are being whittled to 16. Of the 12 contestants competing Aug. 2-3, the top three vote-getters and a fourth contestant selected by the judges will move forward in the competition for the $1 million top prize.

“Taylor is such an amazing person with an amazing talent. I am glad everyone is getting a chance to see just how special Taylor is,” Scharnikow said.

Davis, a 2010 Lee County High School graduate who works at a retail store, says he does most of his performing while worshiping at The Refuge in Leesburg and Providence Church in Albany. He also sings at weddings.

The son of Kimberly Davis, Taylor taught himself to play guitar, piano and drums. Taylor auditioned in Atlanta, winning a trip to Las Vegas, where he wowed the judges with his acoustic cover of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are”.

“It’s hard to do, but follow your dreams. And above all else, follow your heart,” Davis told The Albany Journal on Tuesday via Facebook.

Taylor is asking that people help his cause by “liking” his Facebook page at www.facebook.com/taylordavisAGT and by following him on Twitter at www.twitter.com/taylor__davis (taylor-underscore-underscore-davis).

Davis recent started a blog for NBC. Here is his July 14 entry:

“Hey everyone,

So it’s been a wild ride these past couple months, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. When I did my first audition in Atlanta I never thought I would have gotten this far in the competition. Before all this I was just playing at my church and at weddings. I’ve always dreamed of being able to share my voice with the world. For the judges to be able to give me the chance to do that is just a dream come true in itself.

While I was standing waiting for the judges to give me the verdict in Vegas, I finally realized that I really wanted this. I’m not a very emotional person, but when they sent me to Hollywood I couldn’t hold back the emotions I had that day. I am currently getting ready for Hollywood. Practicing my song almost every day, and making sure it can be the best for you guys. I want you all to be able to feel what I’m feeling during this performance. I want to be able to connect to my fans and the audience as much as possible. I hope you guys really enjoy it and vote for me. I know that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life, and knowing that it is in America’s hands means I have to give you guys the best that I can possibly give. I promise to do just that.

Once again I am so thankful for this opportunity, but I am more thankful that you all are supporting me throughout this whole experience. I promise to keep you guys more updated. Follow me on Twitter and go like my fan page to see what I’m doing throughout the day. That’s where I will keep you guys posted on what I’m doing when I’m at home and in Hollywood. Thanks for reading everyone and I hope you guys will stick with me through this amazing and exciting journey I have in my life right now.” - The Albany Herald

Bio

True Blue City is an indie rock band based out of Atlanta, GA. Their newest release, a three-song demo, aims to catch Atlanta’s ear with lead singer Taylor Davis’ one-of-a-kind vocal style. After appearing on America’s Got Talent over the summer, Taylor joined up with Drew Mullins and Mark Ryals to record with producer Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland, Casting Crowns). The songs show the band’s versatility; from the synth-laden, Killeresque song “I Hear It All”, to the more epic, raw track “Time To Heal”, True Blue City gives the Atlanta music scene something to look forward to. The last track on the demo, “Bright” is a folky, foot-tapping sort of tune that really brings out the soul in Taylor’s voice. As of now, the boys play shows in and around the Atlanta area in hopes that the city will come to love their music. and help them achieve their dreams. Thanks again for all your support!
