Bio

TSKI VALLEY RAPPER/VOCALIST/WRITER & ARRANGER/KEYBOARDIST Tski Valley was born in the Northeast section of the Bronx; in an area they call the Valley. He is the son of the legendary guitar player from the fifties rhythm and blues group the Cadillac’s. From an early age his father taught him guitar and the rudiments of musical form and appreciation. Thus, preparing him for pivotal role he would later play in development of the Hip-Hop party movement of the mid seventies to the early eighties in the Bronx. Tski began his musical career at the age of fifteen. It spans from rap, reggae, gospel, to urban jazz. He attended Michael Angelo J.H.S, I.S. 144 in the Bronx, where he played guitar. He graduated and when on to Evander Childs H.S in the Bronx, where he and a buddy formed a group called the Erotic Disco Brothers (1976). At this time he was a DJ doing parties mainly in the uptown Bronx area. From there he managed to become a promotions man handing out flyers for the Legendary Herculoids Crew in (1977). Later that year he joined Kool Herc as an M.C, (The Fly Force). Upon his short stay with the herculoids, later that year Tski joined up with Kool DJ A.J and Chief Rocker Busy Bee as a DJ. After his tenure with the legends of the Bronx sound system movement, Tski started to make essential moves in order to establish himself within the game. Everyday after school on his way home, he would pass Brads Record Den, the home of the legendary reggae label Clocktower. As he passed Brads store he would stop and bang on the glass and hold up his hand up to his face as if he were holding a microphone. This went on for a period of about six months before brad gave him a job as a stock boy in the basement. After some time he finally convinced Brad to record him, and thus they jointly established the Grand Groove label together. At first Brad was reluctant to release his record first, so he produced other artist for the label. The Chapter Three Emcees, from the Erotic Disco Brothers, and Just The Four, DJ turn MC from the Herculoids, the Imperial Jay Cee. Finally in March of 1980 Catch the Beat was released. In a short period of time and with a little help from radio D.J Mr. Magic, it became a tremendous hit. Tski went on to release eight singles on the Grand Groove label before Brad’s untimely death. Tski has successfully toured through out the world, and to this day many artist are still sampling his innovative, unique rap sound. Such as Will I Am from the Black Eye Peas,” Over”, Jennifer Lopez “You Belong To Me”, Prince Markie Dee “Swing My Way”, Kwame, Essence “ Lyrics To The Rhythm” from the movie, New Jack City. Jeff Redd “You Called And Told Me” from the movie, Strictly Business. Catch The Beat was also used on the movie sound track “Fresh” starring Samuel L. Jackson. Also the “Martin Lawrence Show”, and “All My Children”. Tski also arranged and composed the sound track for, “A Subject Of Color” for P.B.S. Tski has worked with Noreen Clayton from the off Broadway play “Mama I Want To Sing”. Currently Tski is starting to emerge as a promoter of strong merit with a tremendously warm welcome to his debut production at the Kennedy Center in Harlem on March 22nd 2008, where he brought Spoonie Gee out of twenty years of retirement. This great show has spawned an outpouring of engagements all over the place. Tski is a true pioneer who has demonstrated an unusually strong level of dedication and commitment in the field of music.
