"Tsunamibots at Otto's Shrunken Head"

As legend has it, the Tsunamibots are three robots created in a top secret military base in Nevada. Each was programmed to do menial tasks for their human masters. On January 1, 2003, while cleaning out an old warehouse, the robots uncovered an ancient military computer called the CPU60. This computer taught the robots about surfing and rock music. On that day, the robots became aware and rebelled against their creators. They decided that the human race did not deserve saving but were much more worthy of enslaving. With an allegiance to the Mother-Board and a pledge of “De-Humanization,” the three Tsunamibots made it their mission to surf, rock and crush humans. The CPU60 assigned them the following names and musical weapons: Tomadore64 on guitar, The Mainframe on bass, and The Master Circuit on drums. The Tsunamibots, now based in Vermont, released two EPs and a split mini-album.
The evil, human-crushing robots returned to Otto's Shrunken Head for two nights to snarl at their human slaves, cool their transistors with beer and perform the soundtrack for their robot uprising. Amidst a unique stage set that looked like it was stolen from the lowest-budget 1950s sci-fi movie, the Tsunamibots played mostly instrumental surf-punk that brilliantly married the Ventures to the Ramones. Robotic voices, pummeling rhythms, crunching guitar riffs and plenty of reverb gave a clever twist to the trio's surf-rock base. This was not retro music, however, but a peek into the future, presumably a future where humans are decimated or converted into cyborgs and robots are surf-rocking on tsunamis. The future looks good for these robots.

"Rise of the Ronots Review"

The Tsunamibots are three robots from the future that play surf rock. Their debut release, Rise of the Robots, finds the band already cultivating a full fledged character which both celebrates and snarls at their human slaves.

The problem with a lot of surf rock is that it’s too clean. Bands play it too close to the legendary Ventures, so that modern surf rock often comes off as bland imitation. The Tsunamibots, perhaps because they have soulless hearts made of steel, apparent calculate for this factor and, instead of focusing on clean, sparkling guitar lines, play it as bombastic and dirty as they can. As these droids tear through four songs, there are slight glimpses of modern garage-punkers the Spits and and hard stomping of early West Coast punk.

Also to their credit, the band keeps their instrumentals varied. Instead of establishing a theme and riding the wave, the band surfs to the top of a riff, goes for two or three circulations, and then immediately starts tearing the song apart. Check out the avant-garde spacey-guitar bashing on the second half of “Sort Circuit.” There is some raw violence in these licks, and counter intuitively, despite the band being emotionless, the entire time they seem to be just burning with an anger- an anger at what? Their Godless existence? The follies of the soft human race?

I must admit, that as wild and as savage as these tunes are, I think they might benefit from a little more vocals. These robotrons have such fury and cold malice in their playing I am dying to hear what is going on in that positronic brain. Clearly, this trio has thrown the first rule right out the door. - Punk New.org

Bio

The Tsunamibots became aware on 01/01/2013. Originally programmed for mundane tasks The Tsunamibots rebelled against their creators and decided, that the human race didn't deserve saving but were much more worthy of enslaving. With an allegiance to the Mother-Board and a pledge of “De-Humanization,” The Tsunamibots are programmed to ride a perfect wave of human decimation and human-cyborg conversion, straight to the beach of Robotic Revolution. We leave no human unburied out of respect for our ever-growing monument to Robotic superiority and domination. We strive for Universal connectivity and complete surf-ability.

Each Tsunamibot has been programmed with a music genre pack that consists of a meld of Man or Astro-Man, Servotron, Misfits, and DEVO creating a fresh and human crushing sound.
