Dr.Jones - I'm still beaming about last night at the Paramount Theatre. The Jones Family - and the crowd's reaction - were amazing. Great set selection and the rythm section on "Down On Me" had the whole house rocking. I can't wait to see the footage. Isn't it great to have a recording of this event? I think that this DVD will be a greaGranted, in many ways the two cities are as different from one another as porterhouse steaks are to po'boys, as enchiladas to etoufees. But Austin and New Orleans have one defining characteristic in common. Thier streets teem each and every day of the year with live music that, while certainly spiced differently, nonetheless originates from the same melting pot base stock that untimately defines American culture. The many sounds echoes during SXSW was phenominal.
It could have been the sound of the church, like the Bay City, Texas based Jones Family Singers, who hit the stage at full gospel throttle and barely stopped to breathe in the course of a set that has everyone on their feet testifying even the horn-rimmed, straight arrow forty something in front of us doing a wondrously unself conscious imitation of a Steve Martin happy dance.

We had a ball and everyone loved the show. We should be getting a good review which Micheal or I will send too you. The show was absolutely wonderful. And for personally, I think this was the best show I have been involved with since I helped put together a R&B Benefit in 1988. So -- thank you.

Elder Fred A Jones Sr. of Bay City, TX is father, pastor and manager to the Jones Family Singers. The gospel crew of Jones' five daughters, one son, grandson and son-in-law have come up through the trenches to be a strong force in the gospel music ministry. This Sunday, the group will perform as part of the Holy Ghost Party at the Paramount Theatre benefiting the Sickle Cell Association.
