A Living Legend and a Pittsburgh Icon
Tuffy Tuff is well known for his hometown hit Ghettosoundchek. The hit single “Ghettosoundchek” has gained significant local and national attention. It was used as the music sound bed for Antonio Bryant's interview on the BET sports show, Madd Sports. Tuffy Tuff believes that his perseverance and long hours has in fact paid off and without either he would not have accomplished his goals.
Tuffy Tuff has been given the opportunity to perform as the opening artist for many musical performers including Shabba Ranks, Shaka Demus, Maxi Priest, Foxy Brown, De La Soul, Curtis Blow, Special Ed, Jibbs, Gucci Mane, Super Cat, Mimms, Flex, Cutty Ranks and Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick. Tuffy Tuff accomplished being featured in the Billboard magazine without a major label or independent label affiliation and in 1992 he was also highlighted in Blaze magazine. In 1996, Tuffy Tuff was voted Pittsburgh's best rap group and WAMO's best rapper. He was awarded the Pioneer Award at the First Annual Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards Show in 2007. Shortly after the opening of the August Wilson Center, Tuffy Tuff was given the opportunity to grace the community with his presence for a Black History Month tribute. In 2008, Tuffy Tuff landed a movie score in the Blair Underwood directed movie “Bridge to Nowhere” filmed in Pittsburgh, PA.
