"Native Musicians to perform with International Performers"

The Tuku Kame group from Damai will bring with them a musical fusion of combined Sarawakian and Malay musical instruments with modern western contemporary styles.

"Tuku Kame captivates them"

Sarawak Cultural Village's (SCV) very own contemporary band 'Tuku Kame' performed its energetic contemporary tunes at Holiday Inn Kuching's Tribes Music Restaurant and Bar Saturday night.

Meanwhile, 'Tuku Kame' is to perform at the Rainforest World Music Festival on August 29 & 30 at SCV Damai, together with other world well-known and professional musicians.

After that, the band will perform at the Malaysia Fest to be held in Kuala Lumpur.

It is also to make presentation in Sydney and Adelaide in Australia.

Tuku Kame has recorded its music into compact disc consisting 12 captivating and jazzy traditional tempos. - People's Mirror ( Monday 17 August 1998)

Bio

Tuku Kame (which means “Our Rhythm or Beat”) formed in 1998 . The band was put together by composer Narawi CD from members of award-winning Sarawak Cultural Village musicians consisting of (full Band) 7 musicians, 3 vocalists & 1 sound engineer (total 11 members).

Instrument used (mostly): Sape’ (The Borneon Guitar), Jatung Utang (Sarawak Xylophone), Seruling Bamboo, Rebana, Bedok, Ketebong (Iban’s drum) Tubano, Jimbe, Bass & accordion.

Award Recipient: MTV Grand Prix Award & MTV Breakthrough Award 98 (MTV Band Alert-Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur)
