Bio

Tum Kepri fits a certain profile. He was born in San Francisco, California and studied music on his own and hanging out with musicians throughout San Francisco Bay Area and Oakland. But he's largely built his career as a Bay Area Musician. Tum Kepri has spent large amount of his time in Camden, Arkansas. Outside exposure has not always followed my musical concepts outside the San Francisco Bay Area. Though, I do get called an R&B cat— which I think is really weird, because I feel differently says Tum Kepri. "It's really good to be back on the scene... I do like PHREDUM. I still like studying music while in places of serenity. It is quiet and a relaxed setting. Time will tell I feel I am off to a good start. I will let the audience review the musiq, they will ultimately decide.”

TUM KEPRI

Tum Kepri eventually taught himself to play and by the time he was 16 he was performing throughout his community. Since then, Tum Kepri’s life has been one guided by rhythm. At times his journey was staccato and at times legato, but its lead him to be the musician he is today – one who
Understands the significance embedded in a song and never takes a single note for granted. Over the years, Tum Kepri says his musical focus has evolved from R&B to Blues and Jazz. He currently describes his style as blues, R&B with jazz overtones. Currently, Tum Kepri, who lives in Denver, can often be found gracing local stages. Tum Kepri writes his own music and records it from a studio at home. He even works with a management company to further his opportunities. Writing, recording, performing and practicing included, most of Tum Kepri’s free time is focused on music. His current, musically saturated lifestyle is more significant than it seems. At one time, Tum Kepri parted ways with his guitar as the result of a traumatic auto accident. This is where life took him for an unexpected detour. While driving in San Francisco and got into an auto accident, while making it impossible to play up to his personal expectations for awhile, which set back his career. Tum Kepri decided to bow out from the stage. Now Tum Kepri has been able to return to the stage, and once again share his talent and passion in jazz, rhythm and blues.

After high school, at the time San Francisco was a launching pad for national tours and a haven for back-up musicians,” explained Tum Kepri. “Musicians would just hang out at music stores and jam together – waiting for a band to pick them up.” It didn’t take long for Tum Kepri to be picked up by national acts. Most notably, Philippé Wynne, the lead singer of the Spinners, a popular soul group of the 70s. Next thing you know, Tum Kepri met a woman named Qwen Mejia, and it was then she said ‘You’re coming with me, and you’re going to play with me at the Monterrey Blues Festival in 1998.

It was impossible for Tum Kepri to say no. So, Tum Kepri found himself playing in front of thousands at the festival.”

Tum Kepri play’s for different reasons now, Experiences has brought Kepri to another place. Tum Kepri has prepared himself to play nationally again. Additionally, Kepri’s songwriting is in full-swing and he’s working on recordings...

Tum Kepri embeds his life experiences, the heavy and the light and joyful.
