"Central Jersey band is making inroads"

Tunnels to Holland is plotting its escape from New Jersey. The Old Bridge-based independent
rockers are on the verge of inking a deal with indie label Gimme That Sound Records. Formed a
year and a half ago, the group has recorded an EP to be released during the summer.
The band still is talking about the experience of recording in 2006 with producer and former
original Ministry drummer Stephen George, who runs Gimme That Sound.
"It was awesome," guitarist Vincent Mascolo said. "Things went really well. We're excited about
this EP coming out and seeing where we can go with it. We're pretty close to an agreement with
Gimme That Sound, and when that happens, the EP will be out not long after that."
Tunnels to Holland also includes singer Dan Blumig, bassist Bryan Flaherty and Mascolo's brother,
drummer Anthony Mascolo, each of whom hail from Old Bridge, and Barnegat-based guitarist Matt
McCort. The band will showcase tracks tonight at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch.
"We're excited to see what can happen, since this is our first real release together," Mascolo said.
"We hope to get somewhere with this EP."
The band members are familiar with the Jersey music scene because each musician, save McCort,
played with the group Bodhi, which broke up in 2005 after a three-year run.
Guitarist Brian Carr left Bodhi and took the name with him to the West Coast.
"He can have Bodhi," Mascolo said. "We were fine with starting with a new name."
Tunnels to Holland was inspired by the group's frequent treks to Manhattan for gigs.
"We're in and out of the city so much that we take the Holland Tunnel all the time," Mascolo said.
"The name came from my dyslexia. I reversed Holland Tunnel, and there you go. The name isn't
the most important thing anyway — it's all about the music."

Bio

With its working class roots in central New Jersey, Tunnels to Holland has been burrowing its way into the New York underground, assaulting audiences with their retro-infused, post punk style for over three years. The band’s early days were spent writing and performing in local clubs, creating the framework for what was to become the definitive and eclectic Tunnels to Holland sound.

The pinpoint rhythm section of drummer Anthony Mascolo and bassist Bryan Flaherty build the rock solid foundation while guitarist Vincent Mascolo explores the endless realm of melody with his haunting lead playing. The band is fronted by lead singer Dan Blumig whose ferocious and elegant vocal talents set the band apart from the pack and help create one of the most powerful and innovative sounds to be heard in rock n’ roll in recent years. Last, but not least, the recent addition of Matt McCort on rhythm guitar has added new depth, dimension, and definition to the sonic structure of Tunnels To Holland.

Fall of 2007 will be the first time the world will get to experience the explosive Tunnels to Holland debut EP. Produced by founding member and former drummer of Ministry, Stephen George, the CD will be released on "Gimme That Sound Records," the brand new independent label headed by George, who, upon first listening of the band via a low-fi demo recording, was immediatley hooked. George's richly layered recordings create the perfect compliment for the contagious and original Tunnels to Holland sound.

The band's live performance brings the recorded songs to new heights. Tunnels to Holland consistently leave audiences stunned, integrating their novel approach to song writing with a dynamic and unrelenting presentation.
