"Everybody's Just A Little Bit..."

Here's a band that describe their musical genre, on their Myspace page, as 'other/other/other'!! Quite right too!! The exciting and excellent Turning Green are goin' to places musically that most don't dare - Turning Green are different and this brilliant new single, 'Everybody's Just A Little Bit...' is just a breath of fresh air!!

Turning Green sound like, well, Turning Green actually! They've decided, wisely, not to follow trends - they've gone out on a limb - and, they've contrived to come up with a fantastic sound that'll go down well in several genre camps. However, 'Everybody's Just A Little Bit...' (unedited version) is not exactly radio friendly; it'll needs a few bleeps and things if it's to get any air-play in its original form. But, what a work it is!! I can see this becoming a real party favourite - one for everyone to join in with and get a few things off their chests at the same time. Difficult to describe in words, 'Everybody's Just A Little Bit...' by Turning Green is splendid stuff - the stuff that sets new (if a little crazy) standards - the stuff that excites - the stuff of legend - I love it!!

Turning Green could just be the next big thing on the scene. What a great thought that is - a new band with a new take on modern music - an outfit to blow away the cobwebs of banal normality - a band for the future!! Turning Green deserve success purely because of their temerity to fly in the face of convention and coz they deign to come up with such diverse, awe inspiring stuff. 'Everybody's Just A Little Bit...' by the excellent Turning Green is different and different's good, different works, different's bloody great!!!!!! - Toxic Pete

Wow, genuinely beguiling, it’s like a million other bands, whilst being totally otherworldly at the same time. Turning Green are the sort of band that could change your life, turning music up on it’s edge and creating something that’ll stand out amongst the usual Indie-disco grind. - subba-cultcha

"Single review"

Turning Green - Everybody’s Just A Little Bit… (Fat Northerner Records)
Chris Gilliver
4/ 2/2008

WITH a baseline ripped straight out of Massive Attack’s Unfinished Sympathy, a voice from Roxette, and a guitar style reminiscent of early Muse, Turning Green are more like the Kooks’ mutated evil twin than their touring buddies.

What follows, therefore, is a wholly more menacing and complex affair than anything offered by their simpler, more popular brother.

And it’s bursting with ideas to boot, culminating in a cacophony of distorted guitars and crazed howls, before braking off into a riotous, piano led sing-along.

Plenty of potential here.

This Brighton based band’s sound has evolved over 4 years; through hundreds of live shows and two self produced albums, to become an unearthly vibration.

On stage they perform in a line, at the front, thrusting their energy forward. Vocal chants, rants, stories, harmonies and choruses are shared by the four of them. The incredible power and atmosphere of the band’s live shows, coupled with their willingness to travel anywhere, mean that they constantly build on their strong and loyal following.

Turning Green’s reputation as a live act has led to support slots with The Kooks, The Blockheads and The Levellers.

2008 so far: Has seen Turning Green sign to Fat Northerner Records to release single ‘Everybody’s Just a Little Bit…’.
