"Meet the Band: Turning Point sticks to rock 'n' roll basics"

Band Name: Turning Point

Members: Brandon Rial (vocals, rhythm guitar), Dave Heidibridle (drums), Kenny Wild (lead guitar)

Who we talked to: Rial

Where'd the name come from?

(Dave) and I have been in so many different bands together. When we finally got this group going, it was like a turning point in the road. If anything was going to happen, it was going to be with this band.

How long have you performed together as a band?

About a year and a half.

Who are your influences?

We have a whole lot. I'd definitely say Guns N' Roses, Soundgardem, Metallica, even Elvis and Goo Goo Dolls. We take stuff from all different types of music. We try to be open-minded. If we just took Guns N' Roses, we'd just sound like Guns N' Roses. We take bits and pieces to create a variety of sounds.

Best music on the radio right now?

I think right now, one of my favorite bands is Avenged Sevenfold. I think they're getting out of that cliche of cookie-cutter bands. There aren't a lot of bands I'm really crazy about. Maybe Velvet Revolver and Shinedown.

If you could open for any band, who would it be and why?

I'd say Aerosmith. They put on a hell of a stage show, with the lights and pyrotechnics. I would love to open for them.

what songs do you or would you like to cover?

We do Creedence Clearwater (Revival) songs, Guns N' Roses songs, Metallica. "Sweet Child O' Mine" is the one I really like to play.

What's the best part of performing live?

Just seeing people that are into your stuff, especially original stuff and seeing them singing to the lyrics.

What's Turning Point's high point? Basically we've just been through a lot of crap lately. We've been through a lot of bass players, we lost our place to practice. We always manage to pull back together, though. We love it so much we just can' give it up.

Best local places to play?

We like the new place, Zingers Sports Bar. People have the right attitude there. They know they're going there to see original music, so you don't have to play a whole night of cover songs. We also like the Chameleon Club. We played at the White Rose, too. It's a small place, but a cool place to play.

What do you guys need to work on as a band?

Definitely promotion. We need to et out there more and work on ways to get our music heard more.

Do you have an album yet?

We have a six-song demo we just recorded in Philly.

Bio

Brandon, Kenny, Dave and Bob are from York, PA. They were in several bands before forming the distinctive sound of Turning Point. These four individuals share one goal of climbing to the top of the music industry. They are influenced by bands such as Guns 'N Roses, Metallica, Goo Goo Dolls, Velvet Revolver and Sound Garden.

Brandon - Lead singer/rhythm guitar player
Brandon Rial, 25, is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player for Turning Point; he is from Red Lion, Pennsylvania and started playing guitar at the age of 15. Brandon with his good looks and smile will captivate and charm you and his all-out positive attitude will make your heart race, but his distinctive three-octave range voice will definitely render you speechless. Brandon shares his dream with many other young musicians, to make it big while inspiring and entertaining others with his music. The bands that inspire him most include The Goo Goo Dolls, Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver, Audioslave and many more. Whatever it takes Brandon will reach his musical goal in life: he will ultimately succeed and conquer the music industry. You can just see the determination in his eyes as he says, "Original music is the key to success, you have to work much harder but it is all worth it". Brandon will always continue to write good quality, straight-forward, rock n' roll music and people will be inspired by him, no doubt. When he is not playing and creating great music he enjoys surfing at the beach, hanging out with friends, and just enjoying life.

Kenny - Lead guitar player
Kenny Fernsler, 24, lead guitarist for Turning Point, is from York, Pennsylvania. Kenny started playing guitar at the age of 16, although Elvis made him decide at the age of five that he wanted to be a musician! As he plays feast your eyes on his unique style and stare with amazement as his fingers of fury blaze like fire all over the place. Listen as he rips some of the most musically challenging solos you will ever hear. Kenny will have you excited to go home and play Guitar Hero!!! Kenny's musical influences include Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhodes, Slash, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and many more. His hobbies include outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Kenny's goal with Turning Point is to help the band reach as high a level of success as possible and ultimately, for himself, to become a guitar legend like his idols so that he too can inspire others to follow their dreams to become a rock stars.

Bob - Bass guitar player
Bob Heldibridle is the bassist for Turning Point, he is from York, Pennsylvania. Bob has been playing bass since his early 20's. He is also multi-talented playing around with the rhythm guitar here and there which also adds to the band's musical flexibility. Bob has been in many bands before Turning Point and his musical influences include AC/DC, Jackyl, Boston, and even some more contemporary bands such as Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine. Bob and his winning smile will make you want to get up and dance. He almost always uses a wireless set-up and is not afraid to jump-off the stage and jam out with the crowd. Bob's fun-filled personality shines through at every show, he is always the life of the party and has many many personal fans.

Dave - Drummer
Dave Heldibridle, 24, is the drummer for Turning Point; he is from York, Pennsylvania and has been playing the drums for over 12 years. He is multi-talented in that he can also play the guitar, which helps out while the band is writing original music and adding their own special twist to their coversong rock classics. Brandon and Dave have been in countless bands together ever since they were 16 years-old. Much of Dave's musical influence comes from metal bands such as Arch Enemy, Chimaira, Lamb of God, and Avenged Sevenfold. These metal-type influences enable Dave to bring another level of sound and quality which only adds to the edgy rock and roll distinctive feel of the Turning Point band. Dave is motivated by playing in front of large crowds, the bigger the more animated Dave becomes. He would love to play in front of huge stadium crowds with the crowd begging for more and more music as the band plays on. Dave obviously feeds off of the positive energy that Turning Point crowds shower the band with and the more an audience is 'into it' and rocking out, the more Dave and the rest of the band thrives off of the crowd's excitement and enthusiasm and the band just continues to party out and jam the night away, in the Turning Point tradition.
