Bio
In late 2009, complete strangers Mat Clark (guitar/vocals) and Ben Sumner (pedal steel/banjo) came together from opposite ends of London to play a mutual friend's wedding. Deciding afterwards that they might quite like to form a band, they did. Easy.
After a few gigs and some writing of songs, they found Lawrence McNamara (bass) and Dave Shaw (drums). Crafting tunes of an Americana bent, they take their lead from The Band, Little Feat, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Young, Iron and Wine and a host of other things.
Gigs aplenty have followed, in and around the London Americana scene. Regulars at the Gladstone Arms, TJ have also graced the stage at the Betsey Trotwood, Countrier Than Thou, Come Down and Meet the Folks, Get Cake, Eat Cake, Die and the 12 Bar Club.
Spring 2012 sees the release of mini-album “Everything Is Cheaper Than It Looks”, followed by a flurry of gig-related activity. It's a busy life in the world of groove-tinged country rock with bits of funk and soul.
