If I had to describe my music I'd have to say country, my way. I definitely have my own style.
Turquoise Rose is my alter ego, (don't be scared), lol. I suppose the love of turquoise comes from my Cherokee, Camanche side & the roses, who knows, I just think they're beautiful.
When performing I like to wear the color turquoise, generally with black. I'm still looking for a band who are interested in working on and performing original songs.
Copy tunes are great but there's nothing like having a positive response to an original.
I started out singing rock until I was told more than a few times that I had a country voice. I guess that's what you get when you're born in Texas. I used to get so aggravated because I didn't like country music at all when I was in my 20's. (I was raised in Calif.) But, after a while, I broke down, started listening & loving it.
I also love singing country rock/Blues/bluegrass/Pop.
My influences range from Olivia Newton-John/ Joni Mitchell/ Heart/Rolling Stones/ Eagles/Beatles (too many to list) to Linda Ronstadt/Loretta Lynn/Dolly Parton/Patsy Cline/Sara Evans/Shania Twain/ Keith Urban/ and many more.
I have been a member of several bands during my musical adventure, from Calif./Arizona to Texas.
I remember one night in Amarillo when I had to leave the stage & club in the middle of a set because a jealous girlfriend of another musician friend of mine
came in toting a gun & threatening to shoot me ( i was totally innocent of her claims.) What a nightmare!
When I was a member of the FWSA, I joined in as many open mic nights as I could in the Ft Worth area.
I am now living in Amarillo, Tx. where I will continue to pursue music!
Singing & writing is in my blood so it looks like I'll be doin' it as long as I'm able.
