Tuur Moens & Syndicate

Tuur Moens is a drummer and composer from Mechelen, Belgium. You might know him from his work as a drummer with Ntjam Rosie, State of Monc, Tarhana, Maria-João Mendes Quintet, Neco Novellas (till 2009), … He is working as a freelance drummer and composer for quite some years now. In 2009 he won the ‘Erasmus Jazz Price’ and during/after his studies at the Jazz department of Codarts, the Rotterdam Conservatory, he started playing and touring with different formations. Tuur performed with various bands on many international festivals all over the globe, such as: Java Jazz Festival (Indonesia), Jazz au Chellah (Morocco), Olin Kan Festival (Mexico), Cairo Jazz Festival (Cairo), North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), The Hague Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Sohar Music Festival (Oman), Borneo Jazz Festival (Malaysia) and many more…
Tuur also teaches private lessons.
The music
“Now it’s time for my own band”. Tuur has been composing for different formations and different styles for a long time. Lately he started composing more specific songs, with a certain flavor. Tuur decided to form a band in August 2010.
The music is instrumental, fresh, new, catchy and can be for listening as well as dancing audience. Next to this amazing music there is also space for show. Tuur makes impressive live loops with a loop station.
This makes the show complete with adventure, surprises and variety.
The style can be located in the World Music & Jazz category. Afro, funk, latin, … you’ll here it all. If you want to compare the music with other artists, although the music is very unique, you may go in the direction of Richard Bona, Tower of Power, Salif Keita, Oumou Sangare, ... Danceable drum- and percussion grooves, pumping bass lines, funky guitars and keys and a stunning horn section make this band fit perfectly on big festival stages as well as theaters and clubs.

The band consists of an incredible, international crew. “Playing with people from all over the world, with different backgrounds and cultures, gives music a special character and magic”. The syndicate consists of musicians from Brazil, Cyprus, Colombia, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands. Everyone’s background and culture comes together in one great musical trip. The musicians are professional educated people and play the music with expertise, flair and love.
