Bio

TWAUN PLEDGER Born in 1983, 23 years old native southern son, Pledger is coming straight out of B-ham, Birmingham Alabama. Nevertheless this was the place where his mother did her best to groom him right, "keep your head up and your mind tight". But childhood too quickly ends, and too quickly boys must become men. Growing up in poverty in the West End, Westside of B-ham taught him that he must chose the path less taken. In his early teenage years, Twaun Pledger would show up to school only to show out. Captivating his fellow classmates with acrobatic displays of poetry, school for him was more of a playground than a place where a young man would find true knowledge. This is where his story begins. Pledger's story is a tale of two cities. Birmingham and Atlanta have long shared a history of great thinkers and leaders. Martin Luther King Jr. is the first to come to mind. Opting for a new beginning Mama did what she saw fit and sent Pledger to the ATL to stay with his father who introduced him to tough love and discipline he never had. Hailing from the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement, he has dealt with his own struggles to see them transform into a movement of his own. While living in Atlanta Pledger went to North Atlanta High School of Performing Arts where he found an interest in poetry. Pledger's interest in music was an opportunity to learn more about the family business his father had created; Atlanta based Raw Deal Records. Pledger's Albums- "Love Me or Hate Me (But This is The Truth)" 2002 Raw Deal Records. "Tha Voice" 2004 Raw Deal Record. Rolling Out Magazine 2003-2004 Poetry Artist of the Year Winner. "The Woman I am Today". (A nine city tour stage play 2004) "Fair Game". (An independent Blockbuster film 2005).
