"Twila"

Twila
(www.sonicbids.com/Twila)
Erykah Badu, Mya, and Brandy fans get ready for Twila! This 2004 songwriter of the year finalist is coming onto the scene with some new edge. Classically trained at East Carolina University, Twila’s 3+ octave range will be blaring over radio waves very soon. This up-and-comer will give the R&B genre a new sample of vocal pizzazz.
Twila has incorporated the soulful style of Alicia Keys in "Why’d You Leave Me", a track that will undeniably hit home with women around the world. The song utilizes a strong bass sound, similar to the up-tempo beats of a traditional southern church choir, and the strong sounds of the electrical guitar, to push the envelope in making heart hitting ballads.
For all the Whitney Houston fanatics, Twila pulled influence from the award winning artist and added her own sense of musical flare to "Don’t Come Crying". This lyrical piece coupled classical and R&B nuance to yield nothing short of chilling vibrations sure to make the hits list. "Don’t Come Crying" showcases Twila’s seemingly limitless vocal range should knock her critics off their feet.
Twila has pushed the bar of quality far beyond the limits. Her sultry mix of soul, R&B, classical, and techno sounds should serve as a solid foundation for her potential skyrocketing career. One could only speculate that her future hits will be the inspirational tracks that later artists look to as a model of music genius.

"UPCOMING SONGWRITER SCORES BIG!"

Aliso Viejo resident, Twila Wolfe, recently received the honor of being named Finalist in the Hip-Hop/R&B category by THE SONG OF THE YEAR (http://www.songoftheyear.com), an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. THE SONG OF THE YEAR judges are some of the biggest names in music, including many Grammy Award winners.
THE SONG OF THE YEAR is excited to recognize Twila for her exceptional songwriting ability for her R&B song, Why’d You Leave Me?, featured on her second CD, Blak & Bluz. Twila competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song Twila remarked, “I was having a Café Latte in Atlanta while visiting with a producer, and this R&B groove just came out of nowhere. Verse after verse spewed out of me as I reminisced about my college days when all the guys dumped me like a hot potato! By the time I finished my latte I was ready to record.”
Currently, Twila is writing and co-producing Blak & Bluz, which is due to be released in the spring of 2006 on her own record label, Tasmanian Records. Her debut CD, Welcome to the Twila Zone, a compilation of mainstream music, and her Promo R&B CD, Blak & Bluz, can be heard and purchased on iTunes, Rhapsody, MSN Music worldwide and Yahoo Music. Los Angeles radio stations KLOS FM 95.5 and KLSX FM 97.1, as well as various stations along both coasts and now several countries, including that of Japan, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, are faithfully playing songs from both her debut CD and Promo CD.
With double majors in both Classical Voice and Drama Twila has been featured in many independent feature films, including The White Girl opposite Daryl Hannah’s brother, Don Hannah; Road to Revenge; The Flesh Merchant; The Being Eternal; Medium Hot; The Soul of Slaves; Shadows Behind Me; Zipperface; and the comedy, Divorce Law, featured on HBO. Regarding her acting career Twila commented, “I love the theatre and have an affinity for comedy, as well as singing. It’s been my life-long dream to have my own sit-com.”
Twila will be performing live at BB King’s in Hollywood January 28th, 2006. You can find more information about Twila by visiting www.Twila.Biz.

"A CHAMELEON OF A WOLFE"

With a powerful voice and a songwriting approach that results in a true musical melting pot, Twila Wolfe is the ultimate chameleon, able to effectively write and sing reggae, blues, rock and R&B with authenticity and ease.

Twila (who uses her first name as her professional moniker) credits her stint singing in the cover band Aftershock with her love of exploring a wide-ranging mix of styles on her commercial recordings. While Twila has appeared in a number of roles on television and in independent films and live theater in New York City, it is her first two discs - 2003's "Welcome to the Twila Zone" and recently released three-song EP "Blak & Bluz" - that have put the Aliso Viejo singer-songwriter on the map.

In addition to scoring a nomination in the Best Blues category at the Orange County Music Awards earlier this year, "Welcome to the Twila Zone" was recognized with a nomination at the Billboard World Songwriting Contest (www.billboardsongcontest.com) in 2005, and "Don't Come Crying" was recently pegged as a finalist in the adult contemporary category at Song of the Year (www.songoftheyear.com), a competition supporting VH-1's Save the Music Foundation.

"For 10 years, I did all cover tunes," Twila explained. "So when I was making my first CD, I didn't know which genre I liked the best."

As a result, "Welcome to the Twila Zone" features reggae ("Angel Baby"), pop ("Backbone-Less"), Euro-dance ("I'll Be Good to You") and modern R&B ("It Ain't Over," "Don't Come Crying"). "Blak & Bluz" offers a three-song glimpse at her most recently penned material, notably "Why'd You Leave Me?" and "Can You (See Me Now)."

Those songs, as well as other selections to be featured on her forthcoming sophomore album (set for release this summer), are squarely positioned in R&B territory. A third as-yet-unrecorded album will focus on the blues.

"There is no comparison in doing other peoples' music and doing your own," said Twila, who earned a bachelor's degree from the East Carolina University School of Music in Greenville, N.C.

"This particular CD (the sophomore effort) is based on my experiences," said Twila, noting that the outstanding gem "Why'd You Leave Me?" came to her quickly while she was enjoying a café latte in Atlanta last year. The lyrics and music "just come out of nowhere," she added.

She also credits Troy Dexter, who has assisted her in recording and producing both discs at the Green Room recording studio in Chatsworth, with fully developing her material.

Twila has found a strong following on MySpace (www.myspace.com/twilawolfe), where "Why'd You Leave Me?" has already amassed more than 35,000 plays since December.

With her burgeoning music fortunes, Twila isn't completely sure about the immediate future of her acting career. Her credits include roles in "Road to Revenge" (1993) and "The Flesh Merchant" (1993), as well as the comedy "Divorce Law," featured on HBO. However, she says, it has been a longtime dream to have her own television sitcom.

A range of artists, including trespassers william, Eric Anders and No Doubt, have left Orange County after achieving national attention. Twila represents the other side of the trend, having lived in entertainment centers such as New York City and Los Angeles, but ultimately finding Orange County the perfect place to make music.

"I think after all these years, I'm finally having a lot of serenity," Twila said. "Being in Orange County has helped with that."
