"Interview: Twin Wild"

Oftentimes, a band will undergo numerous changes—whether it’s style, sound or in the case for Twin Wild, an actual name change. Listen to their single ‘Fears’ and the familiarity will creep through your eardrums, prodding at your brain until you have to do some Google searching to figure out why their sound is so recognizable. Yes, Twin Wild is the band formerly known as Pyramids, who we spoke with last March before their first headlining show in London. The four-piece band is back in the studio and working on new material but in the meantime, read out our interview with them below and check back here for updates.

Lets talk about your new single ‘Fears.’ What made you choose that as the single? Would you say this song is going in the direction of/forming the sound of Twin Wild?

We chose Fears as the first single because it feels like the best introduction to our sound. It’s got the big beats and chunky guitars, but also has some new sounds creeping in, which we’ll definitely be playing around with more in the future.

Do you have an EP or full length in the works? Can you tell us anything about that?

We do have an EP ready, but we can’t release date just yet—we’ll be announcing that very soon! We’re going to be back in the studio in the next month or so as well, so expect to see lots of new material.

Are there any plans to come over to tour in America, or did you want to gradually build a fan base in the UK first?

Touring in America has always been a dream of ours. I think it is for most British bands! It’s definitely something that we wouldn’t turn down!

Who are your musical inspirations?

Our musical inspirations seem to vary a lot and there’s usually not much of link between them. When we were writing this current EP, we were listening to a lot of John Legend, Mikky Ekko and Foals, and so these were big inspirations for us at the time. Currently though, The Neighbourhood and Arctic Monkeys are quite high up on the list.

Where are some of your favorite places to see live music?

It’s got to be a tie between Brixton Academy, Roundhouse and the 100 Club –not sure why, but they’ve just got a great feel to them! - Secret Sound Shop

Have you ever heard a song and instantly know that it's going to be massive? That's Twin Wild's latest single 'Fears'. Within one week of going live on SoundCloud, they've amassed over 112k plays and have garnered new fans like AlunaGeorge, and have even gotten the song played on Radio 1's Review Show! The band have described the track as “that point when everything you had previously feared becomes insignificant and what’s truly important to you takes precedent". It has an instant accessibility that's bound to take over the airwaves all around the world, and I personally can't wait to see what they come out with next. - The 405
