"Top Ten Bands To Watch Out For In 2012"

During our visit to Glastonbury this year we made sure we spent alot of time at the BBC Introducing stage. First up on the Friday were Brighton’s Twin Brother and what a performance they put on. Held together by the sumptious vocals of singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex Wells, the band evoke classic mid 1980s sounds of Aztec Camera and Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. Twin Brother also played the Anglo-French White Nights festival during 2011 and a string of dates are booked in for 2012. - Neon Filler

"Emerging Talent Competition: The Final"

"Next up; Twin Brother from Brighton. I was looking forward to this band as they’d used the word Americana in their biog. They didn’t disappoint, clear American roots but with a darker edge than expected. Main man Alex’s voice had a Nick Cave quality to it." - Steve Bilsborough - Worthy FM

"Michael Eavis talks to eFestivals"

Michael Eavis -
"I liked Twin Brother too, they were my second choice. Kind of Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and he was so consistent all the way through, and they come from Brighton." - Michael Eavis - eFestivals

"Eclectically Challenged"

"The deep vocal tones lend the tracks an intriguing darkness, especially on lead song Lungs, which allow the band to stand out as unique from many of their new music peers. This, coupled with the surprisingly nostalgic lyrics of Backseat Routine & the raw yet professional production also ensures that they belie their status as such a young band sounding, instead, as though this is a group who have already experienced the hardships of life. It’s the type of rich melancholy that pervaded the debut albums of acts such as White Lies and Glasvegas." - Eclectically Challanged

"Oh Brother"

"The amazing Lungs sounds like it's adopted some mathematical formula for the perfect indie sound. TS + AM = IPP (The Strokes plus Arctic Monkeys equals indie pop perfection). It's yet another contender for the Devil's top 10 of the year" - The Devil Has The Best Tuna

"Glastonbury Emerging Talent selection"

"Twin Brother are a young Brighton band I’ve taken an interest in recently – they released a long EP last year and are heading in to 2011 with an infectious new song called ‘Lungs’, which is possibly their most extravagant and varied to date. There’s a definite influence from The Strokes, this song is very guitar orientated and very slightly over-driven, breaking from its regular riffs and decisive percussion in the introduction only to install a clanging White Arrows breakdown and Hammond-esque solo, before drawing all the elements together into a stunningly erratic finish. These songs are intensely catchy and well thought out, but retain that youthful spontaneity and feeling of being thrown together at the last moment which keeps them unfailingly fresh." - Peter Lanceley - This Music Wins

"This Music Wins - Live review"

Their sound is incredibly mature by any standards, with touches of Americana prevalent as well as echoes of bands like The Walkmen, perhaps early National material, and The Strokes in their more upbeat sections – all big influences, but though their songs don’t make much pretence, they have a really classic sound going on, and in no way at the cost of originality. The Epiphone the lead singer has acquired certainly goes some way to summing up the kind of sound the band have gone for. - Peter Lanceley

"Brit Indie Rock - Review"

"Hand of heart, I can't fault any of the songs; their all brilliant and sound so much like they're from an established band, The lyrics are catchy, and memorable, but still retain a sadder, deeper side." - Brit Indie Rock Blog

"NBT Independant Music - Album review"

"This is the sound of future stars finding their voice, it is personal, often messy and always involving, it is music you want to stay with and music that gives up it’s bitter sweet secrets slowly, willfully, sly and shy all bundled up in atmosphere and delectable drama." - Nigel - nbtmusic

"AAA Music - Single review"

"His music has also been likened to the Strokes, however Twin Brother would be better described as dark Libertine-inspired controlled mayhem verging on genius. ‘Lungs’ is a great little track and allows the listener a brief glimpse of what to expect from this artist and his material in general." - Guy Waddington - AAA Music

"LiveUnsigned"

Songs unfold like stage plays, drawing you in inexorably if you pay them any attention at all. The playing is accomplished, and the performances are charismatic, but this is all about the writing, which is excellent. - Oli

"New Music Upfront"

"With Wells' unique vocals and talent for song writing leading Twin Brother's progress, this is a band who can aim for the heights of sitting comfortably on an XFM playlist and featuring in future issues of NME." - Dean Godbold

"Introducing: Twin Brother"

Twin Brother is the project of 19-year-old Brighton Multi-instrumentalist Alex Wells – this is neat and tidy indie-rock at its finest.

The self-produced second album Actors & Liars in particular is a captivating listen where gusto meets melancholic wistfulness in equal measure. His powerful deep, dark brogue really hammers home the lyrics. - BARRYGRUFF

"The Argus"

Download of the week - Duncan Hall

"The Dublin Castle"

TWIN BROTHER- Upbeat garage numbers ahoy with Strokes style guitars and edge of the seat type unpredictable dynamics. Elsewhere they explore slow driven Interpol style post punkisms. Sweet Baboo is here too, Mark Lanegan even vocally.. - Bugbear Bookings
