"PREMIERE: Twintapes — "Fast Forward" (Jon Estes Remix)"

Creating electronic grooves with a distinct organic-sounding warmth to them, Brooklyn-based electro-trio Twintapes have built an impressive discography of evocative singles, EPs, and music videos since forming in 2010. Premiering exclusively on PureVolume today is a remix of their latest single — listen to "Fast Forward" remixed by Nashville producer Jon Estes above.

"When I started this project Jon Estes was my roommate and also my co-collaborator," explains Twintapes' creator and vocalist Pavel Rivera. "Unfortunately, he later moved to Nashville and the distance made it nearly impossible to work together all the time. But I still really value his creative input, his musicianship is second to none and he was the first person that came to mind for a remix of 'Fast Forward.'"

"Brooklyn trio Twintapes doesn't take the easy way out."

Brooklyn trio Twintapes doesn't take the easy way out. Although their bread and butter is plush, danceable electro-pop, they perform sans laptops. And it's clearly something they're proud of -- the lack of computers is one of the first things mentioned on their social pages. Performance-wise, this laptop-free commitment takes the form of a collaborative chain reaction: singer/frontman Pavel Rivera initiates sounds to all-analog synth player Landon Knoblock. From there, Benny Reiner adds rhythm with an electric/acoustic melded drum set. This unique DIY-electro approach has paid off. Twintapes celebrated the release of single and subsequent video “Everyday Chemical” (streaming) in mid-March. - The Deli Magazine

"A warm electronic sound underpinned by strong groovy beats and an experimental spirit."

The band’s first single is “Fast Forward”, premiering today on PopMatters, and it showcases that aesthetic perfectly. Check out Twintapes’s web site for several videos that’ll help tell the rest of their story. Meanwhile Twintapes frontman takes us through their approach to composing music.

“I have been concentrating on writing well-crafted, relatable lyrics that tell a story. I feel that when musicians start focusing on this dual aspect of lyric and melody writing the music becomes stronger. When I started composing the music I didn’t have any lyrics in mind, but I just had a fight with my girlfriend (who is a writer). I was having a hard time concentrating and coming up with lyric ideas and I thought to myself, why don’t I just write about what is happening right now? So, I started working on it and I played her a draft with some placeholder lyrics. By this time, the matter was resolved. We sat down together to brainstorm ideas and the song and story really took shape.”—Pavel Rivera of Twintapes - PopMatters

Still working on that hot first release.

Twintapes is a indie pop trio based in Brooklyn, New York. The Band performs live with no laptops or pre-recorded tracks.

Pavel, the band’s creator, singer and composer triggers automated sounds to Landon, who mans the synths while Benny brings the rhythm with an electronic/acoustic hybrid drum set to create a sound that is more raw than traditional pop music.
