Bio

If you look in Webster’s Dictionary, you will find the written definition of Twin as follows…. “made up of two very closely matched or identical aspects, elements, individuals, or parts”.

When you come to a performance by Twinz, you will see the living example of that definition… with a twist.

Two separate spirits connecting as one to present music designed to move your soul. When these two separate elements come together as one… magic happens in front of your eyes… Your ears and heart will be filled with a combination of powerful vocals… beautiful harmonies… and masterful musicianship. As an acoustic duo, they create unique arrangements to give songs a new life.

Pappy Kay and Willard Barth first met some 25 years ago in Junior High School. Based on their love for music, they became quick friends. Each played in rival bands before coming together their senior year to form a hard rock band called “Ozz”. After graduation, they went their separate ways and didn't see each other again for almost 20 years.

Now… 20 years later… with a lifetime of musical and life experiences, they have reunited to bring people a taste of the music they love with a “twist”. Music with feeling.

Willard Barth is a versatile performer who over the years has played the roles of vocalist, songwriter, guitarist, producer, arranger and manager. Having explored the many facets of the music industry, he now focuses his life on being a singer/songwriter.

Before forming Twinz with musical partner Pappy Kay, Willard completed a solo album "Coming Home" with award-winning producer Plinky Giglio (Dove Awards Hard Rock Album of the Year '94 and '95). He then embarked on a promotional venture which took him across the country performing music from that release, a mixture of smooth jazz, pop and blues, his music has brought about comparisons to Seal, Steely Dan, Richard Marx, Phil Collins and Jon Secada.

A powerful vocalist and entertainer, he has already shared the stage with legends in the music industry such as Les Paul, Richie Canatta, Tommy Shaw and more!

A native of Detroit Michigan, Pappy Kay's family relocated to Pennsylvania in 1970. He was heavily influenced by his father's Simon & Garfunkle, and Peter Paul and Mary albums. Pappy caught the rock & roll bug after receiving Boston and Kiss' first albums as Christmas presents.

Pappy started playing music at age 7. At age 15 he began playing semi-professionally. He studied Jazz & Classical guitar at Towson State University in Maryland and also earned a Masters in Instructional Technologies from Bloomsburg University in PA.

In 1993, after composing and recording the score for the Drac James film 9mm, Pappy met Paul Lidel (lead guitarist for the bands Dirty Looks, and Dangerous Toys). Paul helped Pappy land a guitar-teaching gig in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. It was then that he was able to combine his musical background with his instructional training. Though Pappy was playing for rock bands, or acoustic projects, guitar instruction became his real bread and butter. Since 93' he has given over 14,000 one-on-one guitar lessons.

For Pappy, the last twenty years has been a busy mix of guitar teaching and performance.

Twinz has become one of the most popular acts at the venues where they perform in Central PA. Now, using the power of Willard's recognition as a Professional speaker, his CD Coming Home and the appeal of Twinz as an acoustic act; preparations are being made for a tour in 2005 that will see them performing in CT in May, CA in June and July, MI in July, IL in August, AZ in September, WI in October and FL in November.
