"Two Ways Home, Harper’s Ferry, The Black Feathers, Gypsy Fingers @ Frog & Fiddle, Cheltenham (31.07.15)"

.........Headliners TWO WAYS HOME are up from London and they’ve brought a sizeable fan club with them. They’re all about Country Rock and they make a big, fat sound, based around their debut EP, “Wood For Trees”. They’re driven solidly from the back by magnificently moustachioed sticksman Chris Brice and a stand-in bass player (name unknown, sadly) who also switches to ultra-smooth double bass for a couple of tracks – some stand in!

Two Ways HomeTwo Ways Home
Guitarist Adam East is unobtrusive and very effective indeed, both chunking up the sound with his rhythm work and also pulling off some sizzling solos – fine player.

And there’s fireworks up front with founder members Lewis Fowler and Isabella Mariee providing dual lead vocals of very high quality in addition to Fowler’s very solid acoustic guitar work. And there’s an unexpected ace in the hole as well, in the shape of an autoharp expertly struck by Mariee, the startling, bell-like sound shearing through the backdrop in the two standout tracks of the night.

Fine band.

In short, one Hell of an evening. Make sure you’re there for - Behind The Scene Gloucestershire

"Two Ways Home"

"Hot Tracks"

Two Ways Home - Time Lasts Forever: This gorgeous, country-inspired duet is the crowning moment of the Anglo-Austrian band's upcoming EP Wood For Trees. Crystal clear harmonies tinged with melancholy.

"Record Of the Day - Two Ways Home"

When a male and female vocal blends harmoniously, the result can often be life-affirming. Isabella Mariee from Austria and Cotswolds lad Lewis Fowler are Two Ways Home, a duo whose voices and delivery on this superb track will blow you away. Taken from their debut EP Wood For Trees, the song builds effortlessly, reminding us of the wonderful 2014 UK Top 10 hit by Common Linnets that surprised us all by coming second at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest but sounded like a long-lost Nashville classic. The pair travelled to the home of country music to play the circuit, soak it all in and pick up invaluable knowledge and experience along the way, all of which has shaped their sound. The track has had specialist regional plays to date but we reckon this truly deserves a national and global audience now. On stage they’ll perform as a five-piece at London’s Zigfrid Von Underbelly at Hoxton Square this coming Thursday night (April 2). The lyrics of the song urge us to speak now, before it’s too late. We suggest you jump on this and catch them live for that very same reason. - Record of the Day

"Record of the Day - Just For Now"

Back in March, we first introduced you to Two Ways Home, an unsigned Anglo/Austrian band, with a track from their well-received debut Wood For Trees EP tiled Time Lasts Forever. Now comes the second release and it’s another fine song, in a similar vein to one of the year’s biggest breakthrough acts, our Record of the Day favourites The Shires. This pacy little acoustic-driven single is the first taster of their latest EP Better Days and was recorded at The Doghouse, the studio owned by Jethro Tull drummer Barrie Barlow, and produced by MsM (who’s previously mixed and recorded tracks for acts as varied as Ed Sheeran, The Saturdays and Skepta). It’s crisp, clean and radio-friendly with the voices of Lewis and Isabella blending beautifully once more, providing rich harmonies throughout. They play their next London gig this Sunday evening (October 11) in Islington at The Old Queens Head. With a whole bunch of great, memorable songs in their set, Two Ways Home truly deserve much major label interest as 2016 approaches. - Record of the Day
