Bio

Two Left Ears was originally formed by Mathieu Adamski – electronic producer (machines and turntables) and Mathieu Deprez – double bass player (“Woodish", "Golden Ultra", "OmMany").

Both having backgrounds in hip-hop ("3.little.points" being their previous project), they've continued to evolve with the genre, experimenting with samples, instruments, objects, and field recordings. They are also influenced by classical music (Bartok, Debussy, Erik Satie, Mahler…), and free-jazz and improvised music (Albert Ayler, Cecyl Taylor, John Coltrane…). The idea was not to try to incorporate with avant-garde, but just to do their own thing in their own way. A good way to avoid cliché.

Later on, visual artist Maxime Lethelier, aka Flashbacker, integrated that way of thinking, and applied it to his video performances using a special procedure to create live visuals with lo-fi cameras, customized vinyls, live sampling and recomposing.

Then, Asako Fujimoto, (of Brooklyn-based bands "Windy Hill Mill" and "Dead Radar") brought with her breezy voice, effects pedals, synthesizer, ukulele, and glockenspiel something ethereal that mixes perfectly with the variety of spectral samples.

Finally, the band was joined by Pierre St Dizier, aka Pirzo (drummer of "Brisa Roché"). He added his original drumming style as a color percussionist, bringing the final dynamic to the live electronica/acoustic hip-hop shows.

Two Left Ears is the new formation of people with different backgrounds but the same aim. They toured Europe last fall, playing shows in such cities as Paris, Nantes, Rennes, Bruxelles, Hamburg, and Berlin.

In 2009, they released a split ep with Windy Hill Mill, Peru Peru and Luminocolor (on Pilotti Records/Lille). Their debut album "Lazy Trace" will be released on May 31st, after an online release, "lazy ep" on April 5th. They will be touring the US over the summer.
