Bio
Two of a Kind is:
Stefan Winston, Sr. on vibraphone, keyboard, and percussion; and Adam Giancarlo on guitar, keyboard, and percussion.
We are unique - we combine jazz and folk-rock in a way that has rarely been heard. Our instrumentation is different. We are a duo that uses vibraphone, acoustic guitar or keyboard. Within a song, we may move from instrument to instrument.
Our influences include Roy Ayers, George Duke, Stefon Harris, Dave Weckl, and Remy Shand.
Our musical friendship began with a recording project. In the past, we had always discussed collaborating on a music project, wanting to feature one another on our individual recordings. Each of us had other commitments which kept us from teaming up. No longer having those other obligations, we decided that the time is here, and the time is now.
Stefan, coming from a jazz background, admired Adam's acoustic folk-rock style. Adam, on the other hand, liked the fact that Stefan is a jazz musician with a lot of improvisational talent, and an intuitive musical sense. We wanted to fuse both styles to create something new and different, and we embarked on our journey to do just that.
There has always been a spiritual connection between us. As music has no limitations or boundaries, and with both of us sharing such a passion for music, the collaboration was inevitable. In spite of our individual differences (race, age, background, etc.), our love and dedication to our music is what makes us Two of a Kind.
