Bio

In the summer of mid July, 2006, Two Scoops' very first jam took place in Eoghan's hot and sticky garage. We could have probably played until the next day if it wasn't for the neighbours; there was chemistry right off the bat and we came up with 5 full songs which we thought were pretty cool sounding. It so happened that our good friends from Banana Market were playing a show at Q-bar a couple weeks later and invited us to play a set with them, and of course, we said FUCK YEAH!!! So we spent 2 weeks jamming almost everyday in Eoghan's garage to prepare for this gig and when we played for the crowd that night, we rocked down the house for the whole 15 minutes of our set. We played: Indie Song, Aine Patch, First Song, Ja Maggie, Hot Sauce, and Destination Further. Ever since then, we've been addicted to the stage and your ears and your hot sauce energy.

Our music consists of many different genres including: punk, reggae, rock, alternative, and for our 'softer' music, some acoustic. You could probably say we're influenced by NOFX, Sublime, Bob Marley, and some classic old rock.

I would probably say something you wouldn't see in other bands is a French Horn! Another is, we don't do sappy music; we like to give people energy through our music and make them happy and have fun. It is not an "all-boy" band. We have one female who contributes to the "special effects" and "extras" to make our music sound different than others. Some examples of "extras" are: trumpet, french horn, harmonica, keyboard effects/voices, and vocals (it's nice to hear a different voice other than the lead vocalist in a set once in a while).

We all have different contributions to the sound of the band especially coming from wide variety of backgrounds. Koh, our drummer, is currently going to college for Music in Hamilton, studying jazz percussion. He also played the cello for a while when he was younger. Tyrone, our lead guitarist, has been playing since he was 13 and learned everything mostly by ear. Eoghan, our bassist, has been playing since he was 14 when he first joined the high school band. He is now studying at York University for part time music and full time philosophy. Mike, our vocalist/guitarist has been playing guitar since he was 14 as well and has been singing since he was born. He currently studies at OCAD for illustration. Kathleen, our keyist/hornist/vocalist, started playing classical piano when she was 4, french horn at 14 in the high school band and was also singing since she was born. She is a graduate of York University, Bachelor of Fine arts, Music.

We are quite the easy going band and what keeps us together is the love for jamming and playing music for people. It is our therapy as well as our addiction.
