Bio

Mike Koka and Phil Taylor (formerly of London’s Perry’s Faultline) created Two Step Monday in January of 2009. It began when Koka approached Taylor with some creative concepts for new songs. Taylor immediately identified with Koka’s vision and they began their trek back into the music scene. They soon laid down tracks for their first recordings. The three demos were a means of establishing an Internet presence and gaining exposure. After receiving positive feedback, Two Step Monday had somewhat solidified, not as a band, but as an ideal. Six months passed and the Koka/Taylor team continued to write and rehearse. In July of 2009, they received an email from a gentleman named Jonathan Kestle. Kestle had come across Two Step Monday online and inquired about joining the band to play bass. His enthusiasm towards the music, motivation, skills, and experience made him the perfect addition to the project. It was official: Two Step Monday had indeed become band. In August 2009 they began playing shows at some of Toronto’s hottest venues to develop their performance. They are currently recording the last tracks of their soon to be released debut EP. They continue to play shows alongside some of the best indie bands Toronto has to offer. Building their fan base, getting radio play and digital distribution, applying to Factor Canada, NXNE and Canadian Music Week are all goals for Two Step Monday in 2010. Although Two Step Monday is satisfied with their progress at this early stage, they are looking for ways to expand their sonic appeal and bring another dimension to the sound. We’ll see what the future has in store…
