"R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Aretha Franklin tribute is March 7"

Take a journey through Aretha Franklin's hits list of smooth melodies, gospel anthems and powerhouse songs when "A Tribute to the Queen: Aretha Franklin" is held at Chattanooga Theatre Centre on Saturday, March 7.

"Freeway of Love," "Think," "Chain of Fools" and, of course, "Respect" will be performed by local singers at this musical revue funded by an ArtsBuild grant.

The tribute fulfills a longtime goal for event organizer Jasmine Le'Shea.

"I was cast to play Aretha in a Sarasota theater play, but I was struck ill midway through rehearsals and had to stop production," says Le'Shea. "But I was introduced to her lesser-known songs during that time and I fell in love with her. When she passed away in 2018, I wanted to do something in her honor, and now I am able to do it."

In addition to Le'Shea, performers will include Lisa Wigfall, Cortney Warner, Nikki Harkness, Courtney Reid and the Women of Worship, which Le'Shea says is an ensemble comprised of female singers from several area churches.

A seven-piece band will be led by Tyler Andrew.

The audience will have the opportunity to learn about the Queen of Soul's life through the spoken- word art of Queen Aneja Raiteri. Artist Joey Harris will have music-related artwork for sale. There will also be vinyl records for sale.

Local vendors will be on hand with Chattanooga- made products and services in the CTC lobby.

Concessions will be available from the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. There is a $5 parking fee, cash or card. - Chattanooga Times Free Press

Bio

TYGER ANDREW - Tyler Andrew comes from a family of musical juggernauts who have expertise in all types of genres - funk, gospel, R&B, jazz, rock, etc.,- because of that, Tyler’s aptitude for music was celebrated and groomed from a very early age.

In fact, by the time Tyler turned sixteen and was old enough to drive, he had already learned how to play multiple instruments including the alto saxophone, the piano, the bass guitar, the drums, the clarinet, and a little bit on the organ.

Despite the obvious virtuoso nature he had, Tyler relocated to the nation’s capital where he studied Organizational Sciences, Psychology, and Communications at The George Washington University. After graduation, Tyler moved to Los Angeles, CA., where he worked in Public Relations and Digital Marketing and Strategy for international names and brands such as His Holiness the 14th Dalia Lama, Life is Good, thinkThin, The Trombone Shorty Foundation and MANDUKA to name a few.

After an exciting few years in the fast-paced career of Public Relations, Tyler was shocked at how this“success” didn’t equate to financial stability. Ultimately, the cost of living in Los Angeles did not work for him and so with all the souvenir T-shirts and postcards in tow, Tyler decided to try for a fresh start in the music scene back in his hometown of Chattanooga, TN.

Early in 2017, Tyler and one of his biggest musical influences, Mia Treadwell, started Maestro Music. Under the Maestro Music brand, Tyler and Mia created a resurgence on the Chattanooga scene for authenticity and originality. They focused on the music they wanted to play which drew heavily from people like J DILLA, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Anita Baker, Raphael Saadiq, Mint Condition, James Brown, and D'Angelo.

In 2019, Tyler decided to officially rebrand himself as a career musician and started the band 4PEACE. 4PEACE as an organization represents the intersectionality of different art mediums that promote healthy expression.

Tyler’s talents and skills have allowed him to play alongside some of the most revered artists ever, including Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, PJ Morton, Ruben Studdard, Frank B, Divine Poetess, and Roy Ayers.
