Tyler Jordan and The Negative Space

Tyler Jordan is a crafter of feeling, a wordsmith piecing together the most uncomfortable truths into bold declarations of triumph. Hailing from a small town outside Houston, he began collecting his experiences of a life that didn't quite fit, packing them up into the back of a car, and heading for Austin, TX at 19, where he would hurtle himself headlong into his ambitions of making it big, or at best, just making it. His risks yielded reward in 2011 when he joined the now locally renown Americana outfit, the Gents, as one of the founding members. There he would add his voice to the lush mix of harmonies crafted by multiple songwriters.

In 2013 he pressed pause on his projects, navigating life in Guatemala for 6 months. During that time he completely removed himself from music, creating space that would give clarity to his intent. He came to understand that music was and always would be his lens to understand the world, and this time, he had the spark to tackle it with even more autonomy. In 2015 he channeled his fresh vigor into recording his first EP "Everything You Have and Are" with the help of fellow rockers Big Thief in Brooklyn, New York. Tyler Jordan and the Negative Space coalesced in November 2015, giving way to the April 2016 release of “Ballerina,” an anthem that sits almost like a cautionary tale, resilient in its resignation. Continuing in the spirit of their first single, the self-proclaimed "sadness experts" have plans to tour behind the release of “Everything You Have and Are” in late summer/early fall.
