Uptown Boys Regular - 2007 (EP)

Feeling a bit camera shy

21-year-old Tyler Burns knows a thing or two about making music. Having learned four instruments by his teens, Tyler decided to pursue songwriting. Looking for a new type of sound, he began sequencing parts of his arrangements on synthesizers. It wasn’t long before he found his niche… In 2005, Tyler was a featured programmer on Clavia's website for their Nord Lead 3 subtractive synthesizer.
Attracting the interest of a publisher, Tyler began composing short songs for TV in his late teens. In 2006, he signed a second-season publishing deal with MTV's signature show, "Rob and Big," which reached over 70 million viewers during its first season. This opened up deals with several networks, including a universal deal with MTV, covering over 30 of his tracks.
Listen to any track off of Tyler’s upcoming debut record, however, and a different era of MTV pop comes to mind. Uptown Boys Regular is reminiscent of a time when acts like Duran Duran and The Human League dominated the airwaves, bringing sleek, synthesized pop/rock and a feel-good vibe to audiences looking for a new sound. That time has come again.
“In all the music I write, my goal is to create a composition that is sophisticated on an artistic level, with all the catchiness of a simple pop song.”
With his extensive knowledge of music theory, love for the classic pop song, and, of course, a recording created primarily with vintage analog equipment, Tyler Burns is ready to show you just what an “Uptown Boys Regular” is all about.
