Bio

Tyler Hopkins is a singer/songwriter from Oklahoma City. He has spent many years writing songs and performing as both a solo artist, and member of several Oklahoma acts such as Sherree Chamberlain, Black Canyon, The Ngheims, Ali Harter and Riley Jantzen. In 2011, desiring to record a solo album with a full band, Tyler entered the studio with longtime friend and bandmate Riley Jantzen (Mayola, Black Canyon) and Madden Humphrey (Mayola) in Jantzen's studio in Enid, Oklahoma. Over the next year and a half Tyler dropped in periodically to continue tracking as time allowed. Towards the end of the recording sessions, Kurt Freudenberger (The Pretty Black Chains, Black Canyon), another longtime friend and bandmate of Tyler's, joined the process as well. The end result of these sessions is “Somebody Like You,” an album that puts heavy influences such as Ryan Adams and Ben Nichols on full display, while also retaining the strong sense of rock-and-roll, folk, and country that shapes the foundation of his songs. Tyler's honest, accessible, and witty lyrics carry his songs of love and heartache, long nights and hard days (both true and hypothetical), striking a chord of familiarity, and chasing it down with a shot of middle-to-top-shelf whiskey. With a full band album that he is able to call his own, and with the help of some other friends to perform the songs live, Tyler is and has been performing on stages statewide as Tyler Hopkins & The Rebellion, which features Kurt Freudenberger on drums, George Horton on bass, and Morgan Ramsey (East Dallas Shufflers) on guitar.
