Bio

The Tyler Shea Band is a musical experience not quite like the standard norm; they offer a fresh and rich style accompanied by a melodic multitude of vibrant sounds that will sweep you off your feet, and let you land back to Earth enlightened. With their songs featuring an array of talented musicians, - including Tyler Shea on guitar and vocals, Matt Gorman on percussion, Mark Thistle on Bass, Sean Kemp on violin, Jody Lyne on trumpet and back-up vocals, and Jeff Mosher on saxophone and also helping with back-up vocals – it’s no wonder how their music takes the listener by storm and projects their reality to a place where it’s never been before. The Tyler Shea Band’s experimental approach to folk music is done with such precision and grace that their acoustic overtones drive such instant hits as Through the Fog, There Are Days, Ghosts, and Now You’re In Love to become quick favourites to those who have the pleasure of listening. All flattery aside, this band truly understands what it means to be focused in an industry where the slopes make it so easy to lose balance; this group of shining individuals knows what it takes to entertain the masses with a crisp, yet romantic, flavour of music unheard by many, and will eventually break the barrier needed to be showcased, and to be allowed the opportunity to show that they are ready to do what they do best; and that is playing music that flows through you and makes you appreciate every breath and sound that enters your body. They’re good. - Daniel Haigh (05/19/07) Tyler Shea: Born July 12th, 1984 and raised in the small town of Louisdale in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Tyler grew up in a very musical family and was particularly inspired by his uncle and grandfather. Tylers love for guitar began in grade 6 when he was only 12 years old and he has been penning songs since the age of 16. Today, he continues his determination to master his art in hopes of someday being recognized as a Canadian songwriter and an East Coast musician. Matthew Gorman: Born and raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Matthews first instrument was piano where he received his grade 8 Mount Allison Conservatory in Music certificate. Not long after, Matthew picked up drums, which ultimately became his dominant instrument. He also plays guitar and bass. He currently studies politics at Dalhousie University. Mark Thistle: Born May 2nd, 1985 and raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Mark has been playing musical instruments (piano, guitar, bass, and drums) since the age of 6 and continues to do so today. He is currently studying Business Management at Saint Marys University.
