Washington, D.C.’s Tylisha Haskins raps in a way that feels born of the late ’90s/early 2000s experimental void, the land before SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and dime-a-dozen weirdo rap. Nimble and measured with his rhymes, Haskins builds from an opening George Carlin diatribe about religion to lyrics that bounce between Voltaire, stealing your sister, doing acid, and the joys of cursing. I recently found another gem from around my way in the DMV area, and his name is Tylisha Haskins. He’s an over-the-top unique, original emcee that is as honest as they come, and lets his personality ooze out all over his new track “All Aboard.” It’s produced by Dsl$aint, who laces Haskins with a jazz-sampled, melodic instrumental perfect for his smooth-as-butter rhymes. All in all, this is a great showing from Tylisha, who I am definitely excited about. - Daily Chiefers
