Bio

Tyrone Crawford (Formerly Known As YBOSS) was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up he was the only child and would constantly hear things like “oh you’re the only child, you must be spoiled” Little did they know, he was not living the commonly perceived life of an only child, but was directly affected by the actions of his drug addicted mother and absentee father. Tyrone faced plenty of misfortune experiences that soon led him right into the street life. When he was a teenager he began selling drugs to make money and impress his peers. He also turned to drinking and women to satisfy his lustful desires. At the age of fourteen Tyrone began secular rapping with a few of his neighborhood friends, and for four years, he would disrespectfully rap about women and things he didn’t actually have, such as gold chains, expensive cars and money. It wasn’t until his cousin invited him to church one night. During that church visit, God did not just speak to him about the music he was making and listening to, but about his overall life and where it was headed as well. That same night, Tyrone gave his life to Christ at the age of eighteen. Instead of throwing away the gift of music God gave him, he went into a deep study of the Bible, mainly focusing his attention on the New Testament, for about four months. He then began writing music for the kingdom, and from there he was inspired by a local artist in Cleveland to change his rap name. He took on the name, Young And BOSS that he later simplified to YBOSS, meaning “Young and Better Off Staying Saved.” In August of 2013 after months of consideration he decided to go with is original name of Tyrone Crawford. Tyrone has rapped at countless events and concerts, including some overseas. He enjoys spreading the message of Christ, and never forgets that eye opening moment he had nine years ago. He is also a devoted father, husband, and man of God who continues to grow in the love and knowledge of Christ. He understands that his music alone has no power, but God can definitely use it as a tool to change lives, touch hearts and plant seeds.
