"Tyrus Morgan Readies Tonecrash Debut"

Nashville, TN (December 17, 2009) – Tonecrash Records is pleased to announce its latest signing, singer/songwriter Tyrus Morgan, and the release of his label debut on January 26th. The album will be available through online and digital outlets, as well as at Morgan’s shows and a few select independent stores.

With a solo EP already under his belt, Morgan has been in the studio recording Sycamore, his first full-length project. Audio Adrenaline founding member, Barry Blair (Bleach, Finding Favour, Two Empty Chairs) produced the project, with Lindsey Rimes and Todd Lombardo adding a few notable touches. Allan Salmon (MuteMath, This Beautiful Republic) did the mixing and mastering.

Morgan wrote or co-wrote all songs on the album, sharing credits with notable songwriters; Blair, Jay Speight and Anthony Snape. Additionally, Blair also played guitar on the project and Lang Bliss was on drums.

“Tyrus has a unique style of writing and a unique way of looking at things that shines through in his music. He is a great addition to the Tonecrash Records family,” says Blair, Tonecrash label head. “I am honored to be a part of it.”

Originating in acoustic pop, the production on Sycamore adds an ethereal rock-infused element. Inspiration for the songs comes from Morgan’s life experiences, and while his are unique, the themes still seem to transcend difference and parallel things we all go through. From relationships and love to faith and things bigger than ourselves, the listener can connect on some level with each song.

“I’m really excited about how this collection of songs has come together into a complete work and can’t wait to share it,” Morgan explains. “Each song represents very distinct moments, emotions and beliefs that make up who I am.”

Growing up in Kansas, Morgan honed his musical skills playing solo acoustic shows throughout college, eventually filling the role of primary songwriter and frontman in a college band, propelling them to an award-winning regional act. A move to Nashville placed him in an environment where he could flourish as both an artist and musician. Branching out as a songwriter, Morgan began writing for other artists and in 2007 Mark Miller, frontman for GRAMMY award-winning country group Sawyer Brown, recorded “Covered In Love” to be used as the theme song for Project Linus, a national non-profit organization.

Morgan and his wife recently adopted a little girl from Ethiopia, a life-changing experience that has led Morgan to partner with several orphan advocacy organizations. He is also a founding member of the Will Play For Water Tour (WPFW) benefitting Living Water International, an organization focused on building wells and providing clean water in third world countries.

Physical copies of Sycamore will be available online through Morgan’s site (www.tyrusmorgan.com), the Tonecrash site (www.tonecrash.com), Amazon.com, at Morgan’s shows and select independent music stores. It can also be purchased digitally through iTunes and Amazon mp3.

Bio

Growing up in Kansas, Tyrus began writing and playing music as a teen as an outlet for his thoughts on life. In college he joined a local band as part-time singer and rhythm guitar player, which evolved into primary songwriter and full-time frontman, propelling the band to become an award-winning regional touring group. From there, a move to Nashville put him in an environment where he could flourish as an artist and musician.

Branching out as a songwriter, Tyrus began writing for other artists and in 2007 Mark Miller, frontman for GRAMMY award winning country group Sawyer Brown, recorded “Covered In Love” to be used as the theme song for Project Linus. With a solo EP already under his belt, Tyrus just recently released his debut album Sycamore, his first full-length project, through Nashville-based Tonecrash Records. Barry Blair, Audio Adrenaline founding member, (Bleach, Finding Favour, Two Empty Chairs) produced the project and Allan Salmon (MuteMath, This Beautiful Republic) did the mixing and mastering.

Originating in acoustic pop, the production on Sycamore adds an ethereal rock-infused element. Inspiration for the songs comes from Tyrus’ life experiences, and while his are unique, the themes still seem to transcend difference and parallel things we all go through. From relationships and love to faith and things bigger than ourselves, the listener can connect on some level with each song. Living with the belief that even one person can make a difference, Ty takes action on his passions. He and his wife have adopted a little girl from Ethiopia and the experience has changed their lives for not only the obvious reasons, but also in ways that are more far-reaching. As a result, Ty has partnered with several orphan advocacy organizations to give insight, help develop programs and change lives.
