Uber Glitterati

Uber Glitterati

A heady mix of disco beats and otherworldly female vocals, Uber Glitterati bring theatricality to pop music. The high fashion concepts of Roisin Murphy meets 80s style synths all pulled together by a Kate Bush voice with an Annie Lennox twist. Originally a bedroom demo band they've cleverly crafted their live performance with elements of cabaret, performance art and the occasional bite of humour to give a show to enjoy as well as music to dance to!

Uber Glitterati are a two-piece electropop act from Belfast. They've been making a buzz in the Northern Irish music scene of late, supporting names including Mercury Award shortlisted New Young Pony Club, Jape, Sleep Thieves, The Correspondents, Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, Napoleon IIIrd and playing the Belfast leg of the 2010 IMRO showcase.

"Their self-titled debut is in this reviewer’s humble opinion an accomplished slice of electro pop. Opener ‘Australia’ is all shiny synth and sparky drum loops. McGeown’s vocal isn’t lost in the mix and she comes over all Florence Welsh stuck in a lift with Neil Tennant." Music Review Unsigned

"Stevie Mac does the music while Elizabeth McGeown does the singing, and a very effective combination it is too... The upbeat, woozy romance of 'Mail It Overnight' is a particularly fine moment."
David Roy, Irish News

"Really loving this band at the moment... fantastic talent!" Rory McConnell, BBC Introducing NI, Radio 1.

"...another Northern Irish band that we are into. I love this lot, we've only had them in our lives about three or four months but we've played them loads on the programme."
Rigsy, Across The Line, BBC Radio Ulster

"With their Florence Welch meets Depeche Mode brand of electro pop, Uber Glitterati...creating a remarkably big sound for a two piece... front woman Elizabeth McGeown’s haunting yet pop driven vocals weave their way through the bar stools and tables...."

"Infectiously catchy electropop is the order of the day for Uber Glitterati"
