Bio
Ukulelien is a collaboration of musicians with a passion for miniature instruments that make up a premier Rock-n-Roll Ukulele band. With both an original repertoire and a vast array of covers, Ukulelien spans a wide range of musical styles bringing a sense of playfulness to the music many people know and love. Their style meshes dozens of influences, yet still manages to show technical mastery as well as cohesion.
In less than a year, Ukulelien has achieved much success including 2 CMJ performances, 75,000+ YouTube views, 500+ YouTube subscribers, 800+ Facebook likes, and positive reviews from Ukulele Rhythms Magazine. Other notable achievements for the band include a self-booked charity tour affiliated with the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life”, several musical collaborations with the “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion” band Consider the Source, and public recognition by Andy McKee, whose original song “Drifting” was covered by Ukulelien. “Drifting” remains the most popular Ukulelien YouTube video with over 20,000 views and it’s continuously climbing. The band committed to releasing a new media every week in 2014, and their videos continue to help them gain fans, friends, and subscribers each and every week.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, the band is comprised of 5 members, including Joey Calfa (ukulele/vocals), Terry Brennan (vocals/percussion/sax), Corey J. Feldman (ukulele bass aka U-Bass/vocals/trumpet), Tara Lawton (vocals/Melodica/percussion), and Nate Searing (drums/vocals).
As far as rock bands go, Ukulelien may not be as loud or as physically large, but they will definitely surprise audiences by finding uncharted musical territory and uke-i-fying music everywhere. Ukulelien can't help but make you smile and sing along.
