Bio
Ultrafine is a high energy band gelling fresh modern electro pop with smooth organic grooves resulting in unforgettable performances with a wide soundscape; from powerful dance tracks to luscious vibefull downtempo grooves.
Ultrafine was the uncanny culmination of 3 diverse musical currents. Living in New York City, through fortune and happenstance, 3 strangers met. From a first rehearsal that produced the song "Chase me", to a fruition of songs; Ultrafine has gone from a curious experiment to a prolific gigging band.
Alvin van der Kuech - Programmer, Engineer, Beat Creator and Keyboardist lays a bedrock of toxic textures & rhythms. While Lee Farber, world-class percussionist/drummer, is both the rhythmic back bone and a contributing songwriter, who has worked with artists such as Gary Lucas & Princess Superstar.
The chemistry exploded when Beth Bartley, sultry pop songstress completed the circle. Part 50's pinup, part post modern New York chic, Beth's singing is informed by classic cabaret aesthetics, whereas her lyrics are minimalistic and piercing. “Consider yourself lucky if you get to hear Beth Bartley sing” - Chip Defaa (New York Post)
As a latest addition, bassist Mat Fieldes (Jay-Z, Gorillaz, Absolute Ensemble) provides the powerful low-end.
Ultrafine is enjoying it's emerging presence in the NYC club circuit, having played at The Slipper Room, Fontana's, Mo Pitkin’s House of Satisfaction, Supreme Trading, Joe’s Pub, S.O.B’s, Crash Mansion, The Delancey Lounge & Zebulon to name a few. The band is planning an initial EP release in the summer of 07'.
