Band Lineup: Des Del Rey (vocals, lead guitar), Joey Finn (rhythm guitar), Paul Anthony (bass) and Max Nero (drums).

Hero is the band’s second release and the follow up to their self-titled debut that was well received by the public. The band’s rocking sound is known by their fans as, ‘Sexy Rock.’

While you’ll find your share of love related songs on Hero the other main point that the songs deals with is centered around the social injustices happening in today’s world, in the vein of the band U2’s music.

The first and title track, “Hero,” is an up tempo rocker dealing with some of those social injustices. The song also has a very well done video that drives home the point of the song. Here it is:

The next two tracks, “What Are We Fighting,” and “Wake Me,” also take a look at the injustices found in the world today and fighting them.

While most of the band’s music is rocking they aren’t afraid to slow it down on tracks like, “Save Me,” “My Love,” and on the acoustic guitar driven last track, the ballad, “Life.”

Ultralust puts out music that entertains while also getting your mind thinking about the world that we live in and the need for all of us to work together to make it a better place for everyone. - CW ROSS

ULTRALUST "Hero" takes you through a musical journey of the times we are living making you think , groove and rock. Provocative lyrics, guitars, great grooves with catchy melodies reflecting life.... in the vain of a U2, Lenny, Linkin Park, The verve etc.

Ultralust self titled release 2005
Hero, Ultralust 2010

Ultralust is a NYC band led by guitarist , singer, songwriter and producer Des Del Rey. They have had great independent success with their 1rst CD, Ultralust. Now... they thank their fans with their follow up 2nd CD “HERO”, and the release of the Video "HERO", (which is already making noise on Youtube plus their new video" Wake me".as seen on youtube, myspace, and ultralust's website. (see video links below)
“Hero” Reflects the social issues facing us today and Des speaks his mind regarding the state of the world. Listen to the lyrics on "Hero", "Wake me" or "What are we fighting for" to know he feels the pain and translates it in his songwriting. This is a record born out of the times we are enduring. Still... as usual Des shows us his softer side with tracks like "My love" and "Save me". In the past described by a reviewer as U2, Lenny Kravitz, and The Verves, bastard child, This Child has grown up.
Ultralust songs “Beautiful you” and “Speed” from their 1rst CD were both used in the Movie “Remedy.” Remedy’s cast included members of the Soprano’s, Casino, and OZ. In addition tracks were used on various TV and commercials. Expect the same and more from this impressive collection. NYC’s Ultralust centers on the irrepressible front man Des Del Rey. A New York City native, his explosive stage energy is surpassed only by his prolific songwriting. Together, with his rhythm guitarist Joey Finn, Bassist Paul Anthony, and Italian superstar drummer Max Nero, Ultralust hopes to spread their music across the world. Get ready!
Des Del Ray aka Rico Jones: Lead Guitar/Vox
Des has been deeply involved in the New York music scene for the last ten years doing live and studio work. His unique, brazen style of guitar playing, singing, and production have made him an in demand musician for such notable producers like Jack Douglas, The Berman Brothers, Tom Fontana, Bob Kirschner, Deborah Shaffer, and Stan Vincent. His music has been heard in commercials, documentaries, and major motion pictures. The future will continue to shine for Des as Ultralust will only cement his foothold in the NYC Scene.
Joey Finn aka “The Snake”: Guitar
On his own since the age of 16, Joey still found time to hone his craft while crashing on couches, floors, and the occasional park bench, all with his guitar by his side. After playing in numerous NYC bands, he was spotted by producer B. Kirschner at a local gig, and Joey was asked to audition for Ultralust. His on point playing and stage presence have been compared to a young Mick Jones. Movie star good looks and killer guitar playing, what else can we say?
Paul Anthony aka The Show: Bass
Ex-Kid Rock bass player Paul Anthony, direct from Flint, MI. has spent the last fifteen years playing and touring. Paul came to NYC straight from Detroit to join ULTRALUST. His first words at the audition were “What song do you want to play?” Strutting around on stage Paul puts on a tremendous live show. Imagine the chops of Flea with the coolness of Duff; a musician who can really rock the house.
Max Nero aka El Nero: Drums
Little is known about the Italian monster drummer they call Nero (pronounced nehro), in the US. In Italy, every band that he has played in had topping success. Now he’s ready to show US audiences what he’s really made of. With his killer beats, he leaves the audience screaming for more!
