Bio

Uncanny's core members Etienne Lambert (drums) and Vincent Duchesne (bass) have
known each other since their memory could withstand the passage of time. They were practically born on stage as performers in multidisciplinary shows. They formed the first incarnation of Uncanny in 2008 as teenagers. The story of Martin Richard (vocals) arrival into this world is still echoing throughout the ages. Growing up, he dealt with bullying and found refuge and inspiration in music. He also performed in several musicals, including Moulin Rouge. In 2014, he submitted a karaoke video to Uncanny after he heard that they were looking for a new singer. The band gave him a shot after hearing his performance of Bon Jovi's You give love a bad name. Since then, he fulfills the doctor's prophecy who said upon Martin's birth: “with a voice like this, he is bound to be a great singer”. Pierre-Luc Scott (guitar), referred to as the geek in the band joined Uncanny last. Etienne and him met at Université de Montréal while studying musical composition and electronics. His interest for pop sensibilities and intricate arrangements rounded up Uncanny's unique sonic approach.

With a solid line up ready to begin demoing their first record. The idea of creating a fictional character “The Babylonian” that will be the center piece of the trilogy that will become their first release. The first chapter “City” begins with “The Babylonian” realizing the fundamental infection of the environment he lives in. The second chapter “Desert” confronts his expectations with a strong dose of reality. With many obstacles and difficulties littering his path he finds the final chapter rising from the edges of his hope. In the last chapter, “Mountain”, the Babylonian looks within for resolution, enabling him to realize that his journey has just begun.

Through 2018, the band focused on the production of their first studio track and video for
Spineless. The track was produced by up and coming Canadian producer William Gaboury who will also be behind the board for the upcoming full length release. The video was produced by Montreal based “Les Orphelins” and highlights the band's unique blend of Heavy Prog riffs and arrangements with a more accessible vocal and melodic approach. The band will be heading into the studio this fall to begin the recording phase. The album will be released in 2019 through Distrokid (digital distribution). The band plans to have their live show ready to hit the road in support of the album across Canada, at Festivals and key industry events around the world.
