Bio

Uncle Jed are an original funk/soul/reggae band from Sydney's Northern Beaches. Uncle Jed have been writing songs together for the last six years being influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Cat Empire, George, Sting and many more. Starting out as a long distance project where brothers, Danny Stitt (bass) and Shannon Stitt (keys) would write from their home in Coffs Harbour, and cousin Laura Stitt (vocals) would write from her home in Sydney, posting cassette recordings to each other to complete their first creations. Soon after a few family jams, where the three would meet together and their ideas would come to life, the two boys decided to make the move to Sydney to further their musical careers. The three continued to write music together and check out as much live music around Sydney as possible where they met up with one of sydney's leading groove drummers Dave Hibbard who has performed live and recorded with with artists including John Cleary, Jackie Orszaczky, James Morrison,Tina Harrod, Jimmy Barnes, Diesel and Jade McRae. Uncle Jed have toured the East Coast of Australia twice and in september 08 made a national television appearance on the hit series All Saints after producer Bill Hughes heard the band playing at a local venue in Monavale. While at present, enjoying playing in their home town Sydney, Uncle Jed have aspirations to travel far and wide to experience the appreciation of not only an Australian crowd. Always looking for ways to keep their sound fresh, Uncle Jed have recently invited established Sydney jazz musicians Dave Jackson (saxaphone) and Simon Ferenci (trumpet) to join them in creating a more energetic live sound.
