Bio

Like a fight between John Stamos and Mario Lopez over whose Zubaz pants are cooler, Uncle Jesse's Hair is an intense, entertaining reminder of the good times we all had in the 90s. The band, which plays an extensive catalog of 90s songs that runs the gamut from rock and punk to pop and ska, has become quite a force on the Chicago music scene. Never has there been a musical experience like this since Jesse and the Rippers played Tanner Family Fun Night.

The band features some of Chicago's best musicians. Adam Instefjord plays bass and shares duties in vocals. Growing up in Chicago's northwest suburbs, Instefjord started his first band at age 14 with Uncle Jesse's Hair drummer Dave Vazzano. With 12 years of experience together, they bring their solid rhythm section and high-energy stage presence together to entertain crowds with the songs we all grew up on. In addition to his duties with Uncle Jesse's Hair, Instefjord is a singer/songwriter for Searching for Sunlight. He attended the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio, moving to Los Angeles afterward where he honed his skills as a producer, engineer, songwriter and musician.

Dave Vazzano fills out the other half of Uncle Jesse's Hair's rhythm section. Vazzano has been in the percussion game since the age of ten, starting with school concert and marching bands before taking the stage with rock bands early in high school. In 1995 he and Instefjord formed a punk rock band and have been playing together ever since, now teaming up in Unce Jesse's Hair and Searching for Sunlight.

Uncle Jesse's Hair vocalist Devon Carson grew up in Las Vegas before graduating from Occidental College in Los Angeles. After graduation, Carson came to realize that LA was a terrible, evil, soul-crushing circle of Hell, so she packed up and moved to Chicago. An actress by trade with a deep-seeded love of singing in the shower, she decided to take the craft she honed in the bath all those years and bring it to the stage. Of course, she also had to get used to singing with clothes on. This past fall, she recieved a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Masters of Tambourine Academy. She was also nominated for a Tamby (the Masters of Tambourine Academy's annual award for outstanding achievement in tambourine) for her work on Sesame Street's "Singing in the Shower."

Min Ko's path to stardom began at age 15 when he learned his first chords on an beat-up acoustic guitar. Self-taught, Min spent many many an afternoon in algebra class staring out the window and dreaming of playing his music to sold out stadiums of screaming fans. Over the years, Ko has participated in numerous bands and musical projects throughout the Chicagoland-area. While he takes his craft seriously, Ko likes to have a good time on stage, leading him to join Uncle Jesse's Hair to satisfy his love of 90s music. He is also a member of rock band Front Toward Enemy.

Joe Mizzi plays guitar and shares duties on vocals for Uncle Jesse's Hair. Always the life of the party, Mizzi brings an exuberant stage presence, a distinctive vocal style and a love of cupcakes to the band. Hailing from Detroit, he spent years there playing in punk bands, string quartets and everything in between. After graduating from Michigan State with a degree in Music, he spent time touring with the punk/ska outfit Common Rider during their Hopeless Records period, sharing the stage with bands such as Jimmy Eat World, The Donnas, The Lawrence Arms, Hot Hot Heat, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, The Bouncing Souls, and many more. He's got extensive experience as a songwriter and composer, and has mad performance skills that have helped him perform 90s masterpieces like Ice Ice Baby and Peaches.
