Bio

Uncle Lightnin’ was formed in 1996 in Chattanooga, TN. The intent was to create new music that celebrated and incorporated the many different styles of American music. Most of the people who have tried to describe what we do have had difficulty in pinning down our style of music. That’s great, because that’s exactly what we want. Whether it’s straight-up rock ‘n’ roll, hard-core country, traditional bluegrass, deep blues, Southern gospel, Cajun, hillbilly or rockabilly that you think you hear, you’re right. That’s why we bill ourselves as Specialists in American Musics (although we’re likely to throw in the odd Beatles or Stones cover from time to time). Because of this unique blend of styles our CD’s have received critical acclaim and radio airplay all over the U.S.A. and Europe. We write our own material, and our shows feature our own material, but we also enjoy playing great songs by other writers. Sometimes we don’t even know what we’re going to play until someone asks for it: and if you have a request and we don’t know it, we’ll do our best to make you love us anyway.
