"Uncle Moe a Huge Success"

Letter: 'Uncle Moe' a huge success
Friday, October 27, 2006

To the editor:

On Sunday, Oct. 8, during Columbus Day weekend and the beginning of "Family Week," Beech Tree Park hosted a delightfully robust suburban country rock group called "Uncle Moe" consisting of keyboard, guitar, bass and drums.

Among the appreciative audience of some 70 or more people, children danced and did cartwheels, adults smiled and swayed or clapped hands, and many even sang along to familiar songs. In short, "Uncle Moe" was a big hit with all age groups and we look forward to inviting them back to perform next summer in our Sunday afternoon "Concerts in the Park" series.

self produced ep Uncle Moe - Music for the Whole Family

We started the band to create music for families. We write and perform songs that kids can really enjoy and grasp but with music that isn't trite or repetitive so the parents that listen can groove to it as well. The four members all play a role. The drummer is the surfer/beach bum and into to groovy laid back music. The piano player is the blues man. The guitarist is a cowboy; and the bass player is the punk rocker. As a result we make an effort to create songs that cover many genres: blues, reggae, rock n roll, golden oldies, country, and sing alongs. At all shows we have outfits to match each persona. At each show there is some level of audience participation, ie dancing the Hokey Pokey, or singing familiar refrains. As evidenced at our live shows, we appeal to young children, their siblings, parents and grandparents.
