"Uncle Mountain - Outer Banks and Music on the Mountaintop"

"When we pulled in the band Uncle Mountain, from Asheville was playing... The harmonies were super complex as if they sat down with a piano and came up with the most difficult groups of notes that sound good together and then practiced... it until it became 2nd nature. I dug it" - Keller Williams

An inspiring marriage of rhythmic grooves and razor-sharp vocal harmonies with an Appalachian tinge, Uncle Mountain will not go unnoticed.

"Say Uncle!"

Working hard to create a truly original sound, Boone's Uncle Mountain will be at Canyons on Saturday. Folk, country, reggae, blues and an unabashed love for sugary pop are swirled together and topped with intricate, soaring harmonies and creative arrangements. Uncle Mountain's music is good time made by people who are obviously enjoying themselves immensely. It is truly only a matter of time before the High Country catches on to this band. - Shout Magazine, Boone NC

"Uncle Mountain"

Country-roots-pop purveyors Uncle Mountain will be gathering the faithful at Flipside on Friday. Lush vocal harmonies and tasteful instrumental work provide a strong background for the band's super catchy songwriting. Uncle Mountain has all the makings of one of those college bands that manage to get really big really fast. - Shout Magazine, Boone NC

Bio

Uncle Mountain is an indie rock band living in Asheville, NC. Moving from Boone, NC after releasing their self-produced debut album, Salt Sweet and Memory Feet, Uncle Mountain began to focus their energy on their live show and began a regular touring schedule in the southeast. Now playing many regional festivals, cultural events, and having opened for Band of Horses in Asheville, Uncle Mountain has seen a significant bloom in regional support culminating in a packed show at The Grey Eagle in celebration of the release of their second album, Miles of Skyline.

Spawning from friendships dating as far back as to the days of middle school, Uncle Mountain's music can't help but have the personal touch, honest approach and accountability that comes standard with lifelong friends. Steadily tinkering away in various basements and crawl spaces since they first discovered a four-track tape deck, Ryan Furstenberg, Ryan Lassiter, and Dan Shearin have together discovered the allure of home recording, experimental arrangements, and how to sing, write, and live with one another. Each song in Uncle Mountain's set is a marriage of pre-conception and spontaneous collaboration.

The three distinct and stylistically unique songwriters steer each other’s tunes in different directions until they've reach a destination, often that they had never expected. The result is one that they are proud of both in headphones and on stage, blending the organic soul of rock and folk with the lively percussion, rich harmonies and colorful textures from their favorite music from around the globe.
