Hailing from the backwoods of Sussex County NJ, Uncle Stump is a four piece band playing what their fans have affectionately deemed "Mud Funk". This high energy, improvisation filled brand of funky psychedelic rock keeps rumps shaking and ears happy with it's unique down home, twangy flavor. Starting at bars and barn parties in 2014, Uncle Stump soon found themselves playing prestigious stages such as NYC's Bitter End, then American Beauty for Phish NYE Pre-Shows; headlining the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ; Pennsylvania's Sherman Theater; Morgantown WV's 123 Pleasant Street and Mainstage Morgantown, and various other places that were once just a dream for them. Fun, original songwriting, paired with the excellent musical chemistry of Uncle Stump's four members creates a breeding ground for an exciting show anywhere the band sets up. Matt Carafello's powerhouse drumming, Lee DiBlasio's precise, slap-filled bass playing, Mike McBride's loose, jazzy guitar techniques, and Paul Derin's unconventional, effect-steeped harmonica playing blends together to create a sound that's both extremely unique, yet very familiar feeling at the same time.
