Under the City Lights

The Toronto based group Under the City Lights was formed in the summer of 2005 as a side project of three friends Alistair Fernandes, Barry Felipe and Raymond Gerardo. After playing under numerous band names the trio decided to form their own band and write their own original music. After high school, Barry and Alistair attended recording arts school Harris Institute taking production and sound engineering to further develop their skills as musicians. Upon completion of their program at Harris Institute, Alistair and Barry wanted to establish a unique style of production creating the ambient alternative rock sounds of the band. They developed the name Under the City Lights as well as an original concept and image attempting to capture a sense of stillness and peace amidst the fast pace city life. The concept of the band is further enforced through the bands music drawing in powerful emotions of both joyful moments and sad moments of life and relationships. Band members have onstage experience under various band names including Caught in Action and Herosize. The first stage performances began at talent shows during high school and continued onto larger shows including Opera House and Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto. Some influences include John Mayer, Maroon 5 and Angels and Airwaves.
