Under the Sun began as a band almost 2 years ago. The band first started when Jack Lewis, Chase Williams, and Dylan Haines were all in high school together. The band was a little bit out of the ordinary for any band, when it first started, do to the fact that Under the Sun only consisted of Jack on guitar, Chase on guitar and vocals, and Dylan on drums and vocals. Also, at the time, they were only 15, 16, and 17 years old. So, these 3 teenagers wanted to start something new, something different, something people weren't and still aren't completely used to as far as main stream music. They wanted to start a "HIPPIE" jamband. Well, Under the Sun began to practice and finally decided that in the middle of the school year, they would play at the school talent show. This was to be Under the Sun's first un-official show. At the talent show they played a day-time set, consisting of their original song entitled "Neon Subway", and a night-time set, consisting of "Neon Subway" and Jimi Hendrix' version of the song "Killing Floor". After the talent show, Under the Sun had actually established a very small fan-base. So, with friends cheering them on, they decided to play the Central Crossing High School Battle of the Bands. Well, let's just say that if it had been 1969 when Under the Sun played the Battle of the Bands, they would have won. But, they learned how things could be as a band and that helped a lot. So, they got together and decided that it was time to play their first official show, which was played on May 17, 2008 at the Scarlet and Grey Cafe. They played their first official show that day. It was before this show, around January of 2008 that Jack and Chase had come up with the idea of creating a festival. They later told Dylan about the idea and as time went on, The Peace Through Music Festival was born. Now, The Peace Through Music Festival, or Peace Fest, was held for the first time on July 25 and 26 of 2008. The Peace Through Music festival is a benefit for the Shawnee Native American United Remnant Band and land of the Zane Shawnee Caverns. It is held annually at the Zane Shawnee Caverns in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Well, from there Under the Sun continued/continues to work on creating a bigger and better sound. Now, Under the Sun has grown since the days of being a trio. The band now consists of Jack (guitar), Chase (guitar, vocals), Dylan (drums, vocals), James (bass), and Tyler (keyboards, vocals). As Tim Berger from Exceptional Sounds once said, "The music sounds like something straight out of the sixties". Knowing that, Under the Sun strives to make themselves sound as if they are starting a revolution, while waiting for the right show to actually start a revolution. That is because Under the Sun stands for PEACE, LOVE, and RESPECT. As Tim from the national Pink Floyd tribute band, Dark Side of the Moon said, "Fantastic sound guys! Woodstock worthy for sure!" So, with that Under the Sun is proving to continue their journey for peace through music, as well as trying to share their music with anyone and everyone. It's true that one show can change the world and Under the Sun is looking to do just that. PEACE!!!
