Bio

The Basics of Union City Blue: simple rock band; purpose is writing songs that relate to you a little about themselves.

Carsten and Colin Dietz were just young lads when they started playing guitars for the neighborhood kids. Who could have known that those little girls down the street would turn into such hotties as we reached our teenage years? We had no choice but to start our rock band in order to woo the local ladies. And of course, the fact that we were awesome songwriters, musicians and quite handsome ourselves, didn’t hurt. (OK….that’s bullshit). As brothers, we both had been taking music lessons for years. It was inevitable that we were going to be a band. We met up with Adam Ciccarino / drums through music school and ran auditions for a bass player. Justin lived in Hicksville (Ringos), NJ and happened to appear out of know where. The chemistry of the band seemed to work and our fan base continued to grow. Union City Blue was now a local name synonymous with a good time. We were finally getting noticed.

Union City Blue is a unique band. They don’t try to shock you, or impress you, and they definitely don’t want to sound like your friends favorite band. UCB is a no hype, no frills rock band. Carsten writes catchy tunes with life based lyrics. Their main objective is to perform flawlessly on stage. I think that’s what their fans like most about them. Whether UCB is playing for a handful of friends, or a filled venue, never makes a difference to the band. They just love playing. Nothing makes them happier than to watch fans rock out, sing along, jump around and have equally as much fun as they do on stage.

Together for only 2 years, UCB has had the opportunity to play in some of the better known clubs, including CBGB’s, The Knitting Factory, The Continental, The Stone Pony and more. The band is leaving southbound on an east coast tour Aug. 7th. On return they are hoping for a deal, like a million other rock bands. But, what the hell, as long as there are people to listen they’ll keep playin’.
